I agree 100% with you. This guy is a ******* moron for putting that much money in his car and getting whopped by a BPU supra. Heck for $500 he could've bought that NOS bottle. Or for just $12k he could've gotten turbo or SC and run 10's all day long.
@ 400 HP for a T/A does 12.6 @ 112 1/4 mile time sound right? His mechanic told him he should've been doing 12.0 with all that work done. So I think your right b/c when i raced him i heard him bouncing off the rev limiter in 1st, and 2nd gear.
What I got done to my supra is intake, exhaust and upgraded front mount intercooler which makes a huge difference. Oh and yeah your right, my supra hates the hot weather. When it's hot & humid it does seem to boost less then before.

With that much in the motor, and only 398 to the wheels, he is a ******* moron, and to boot, can't drive for **** (damn, he drives worse then me lol). You can do 243's for $500, Used exhaust (LTs ORY, catback) for about $500, cam kit for $700 through a sponsor, gears for $500 installed, ls6 mani for $350 so long as it isn't broken upon shipment (), and DR's for whatever they cost. That right there should be 390+, and trapping anywhere from 112-116 cam and tune depending. Hell...$1000 for install, and $500 for tune...that still comes out to a total of less than $4000, installed, on a budget build. Guy doesn't know wtf he is doing, or is just the worse driver imaginable, even by my standards.

About him bouncing the limiter....though I still think the T/A guy is a douche (though honestly, with your initial post, I am not counting you out either), it coulde be because of the factory tach. First and 2nd lag (I know my car does at least..bad), and if he is shifting higher, say 7k like I do, first will hit (in my car) 7200 rpm limiter while the tach reads ~ 6300, and 2nd gear will bounce the limiter at 6500. So that could be his issue. But even me bouncing my limiter in 2nd, and 3rd (prayed it would hold out to the end of the track...it didn't ), I still trapped 112 in 4200 DA. So he can't drive at all would be my guess.

supras don't boost less with more heat and humidity. The pressure coming out of the turbo is the same, but because the air coming in is hotter it is less dense,ie less oxygen, which means less power. A bigger intercooler will help but not much because supras already run a big intercooler stock. A bigger intercooler also will not compensate for higher ambient temperature. Getting out the bug sprayer and spraying the intercooler with ice water just before you run will help a little.

I think you could run a mid 12 at around 110 with a hell of a launch. BUT, a supra will not trap anywhere near 117-120 with just an intercooler, intake, and exhaust on the stock fuel cut and stock boost. You would need around 400 to the wheels to trap much over 115, and you aren't going to make that much with the fuel cut and stock boost. If you are saying you have under 400 to the wheels and think you can still trap 117+ with how much your car weighs, then you know very little about drag racing. If you are saying you have 400 or more to the wheels on the stock fuel cut and boost, then you're a liar (about your mods or in general).

Ok.. here we go. a Supra owner's point of view... I have modded my car from stock to BPU++ to single.
Without a BCC, your car can't boost more than 14 (or 15) psi. The computer cuts fuel. It happened to me a few times when I did not have a BCC. Once that happens, all the check engine lights come on, but it does not go into limp mode. Supras @ 18psi and pump gas dyno between 390-410whp. Assuming you're only running 14 psi, you're probably near 350whp. Is that enough for 117mph trap? It's possible but highly unlikely.
Also, an intake hardly yields more power.

I really don't see him trapping 117 with 350 to the wheels and with how much his car likely weighs (atleast 33XXlbs)
