to get that much power out of the H22 (prelude motor), he would have to resleeve his bottom end, get new pistons (stock US motors are 10.0:1), get some head work done and get some kind of fuel management. the stock prelude motor cannot safely boost more than 10 psi. If you do the math then that will not even get close to 400 hp to the wheels. A stock prelude motor has about 170 hp to the wheels.

How do i know all this? I drive a Honda Civic with a H22A motor.

old setup ran a 13.8 granny shifting at 7500 rpms, NA with full interior. I was probably making 180 - 185 hp give or take a few.

just recently got my new setup in:

bottem end still stock
milled and ported head
ferrea oversized valves
crower dual valve springs
crower retainers
crower stage 2 cams

with the addition of this i'll be happy/lucky to dyno at 200 hp.

so i think your friend is full of BS and the preludes are heavy as hell they weigh about 3000 lbs which is 600 lbs more than my car with me in it!!

Please do not flame me! I'm in here to learn about cars. I know that the stock LS1 equipped cars are faster than mine. Plus i have a very close buddy who drives a '01 SS.

race him from a dig, maybe he has 400flywheel. you should racehim regardless.
anything bigger than a t4 is big on a honda, and the only 2 people that i know that have broken the 10 sec barrier with a h22 in a civic are Jeremy Lokofsky (fastest time in the 9's All Motor) and Stephen Papadakis (7's with a t66 turbo)

most civic guys do not like the prelude motors, less parts than the b18 and b16's

and no the prelude motor cannot rev to 9000, you're are pushing it if you take it past 8000, the stroke is too long on it compared to the b16 and b18's

well anything else you guys want to know about the h22 (prelude motor)?

you ran a 13.8 with 185hp? crank or wheel, doesn't matter, that's still hard to believe in a fwd car... even if your car is only tipping the scales at 2400(?) with you in it. What year and model is it anyway, most of the civics i've been looking at have been listed as curb weights of 2350-2500 or so... although some of the early 90s hatchback models seem to be lighter.

h22cvc, you are a brave soul. Intelligent, too from the sound of things. Just not smart enough to see the light of the LS1. J/K.

Welcome to the board, now leave you ricer!

Why is that hard to believe? 185 wheel hp, 700lbs lighter than a stock GT stang, runs high 13's? I don't see what is hard to believe about that. A friend of mine has a 240wheel hp Miata (2200lbs I think) that runs low 13's...

Im upgrading to a V8 car in a couple years...just have to finish college first, but it'll probably be the new Audi S4.

okay i have found one time slip...need to start digging for the other ones

but here is the proof the non-believers

okay im not going to make any excuses, but my driving sucked ***...looking at my 60 foot time i could've have made a faster past than 13.8 @ 98mph if i would've been more agressive but this was the first and only time my car has seen the drag strip, additionally it was just a test for me and my buddies since we had just finished the car the week before.

we did not want the car to brake on us either because we were very far from home. we ran at Bakersfield, CA, which has an elevation of about 2500 ft.

Getting back to topic....if for some strange reason he does have 80 g's into that car, and it only has 400 hp, hes an idiot. He obviously didn't buy the best top quality hamsters to turn the wheels and he didn't invest in the new TURBO 5000 NOS STICKER OF DEATH!!! In all seriousness, if I had 80 g's, and I was going to put it into a car, like mine for instance, with 80 g's I could make the motherfu*ker sprout wings and fly. In conclusion, your friend is definitely full of ****, an idiot, or both. When will ricers learn????? I need a beer...

Dude, please stop spitting your mouth off about random ****. Those little cars can get pretty quick, pretty fast, and pretty cheap. A buddy of mine runs a little civic hatch that pushes alittle over 300 to the wheels.... 2100lbs ... would rip you to pieces. He might say spending 20 grand on a car that only runs 13's is dumb ... stupid domestic guy. Just remember, to each his own ... we're all car guys here, and ignorant comments like that aren't welcome as far as I am concerned.

I stand corrected h22cvc.

If I had 80g to throw into a project car, it'd be making well into 4 digits at the wheels.
there are so many different things i could do with that $80k that I don't even want to start listing...

Got a link to any good solid info? All I've heard is rumors? Are they just bored/stroked LS1 & LS6 engines?

all i have heard is that the LS2 will be an aluminum 6.0 block. have the three valve per cylinder. the motor is predicted to be at 400 hp and 400 lb ft of tq. if you want more info, go to the internal motor of this site, and they have plenty of info on it. Also the LS7 is like a 6.2 or 6.3 liter. and hopes of making the N/A 500 hp. that will be in the Z06

Y'all, I saw in Popular science some ricers that indeed had multiple hundreds of thousands of dollars in them. However, most of them were converted to RWD and had totally different engines in them. This evil spawn of Bullitt may have indeed spent eighty thousand dollars on that POS.
