Something had to be wrong with the LT1. The GTI is quick for what it is and is a nice little car but its a 14.9 at best car stock. I honestly wouldn't mind one for a DD. Tune, intake and exhaust they are high 13 sec cars with traction.

I had a similar experience against a GTI with my 1993 TA right after I got it, where I was dead even with a GTI on the highway. The next day the car stopped running due to a bad fuel pump

I've owned an '04 GTI and have been around VW's for years so I kinda know what I'm talking about. 200hp with around 3200lbs and FWD isn't good for much more than a 14.9.

Mine went a best of 14.3 with a few bolt-ons and street tires which led to a 2.5 60' LOL. Loved that car....kinda wish I still had it. Seriously considering picking up a MK6 for a DD.

the fact that mine says teching in is not valid at all in this simply because someone is new doesnt mean there car isnt fast. ALso I have been on this site since 06 with nother name I just changed it when i got another car. I wasnt being an *** when i said he would be suprised to I dont need everyone else to be. I simply thought that it was a light bolt on ls2 goat making like 380rwhp or something. So how dare I assume that my presumably 310rwhp 3280lb car get compete with a 380rwhp 3800lb car. I apologize for my ignorance....

nice kill...

BUT...i raced my friend in is 09 GTI with my stock lt1...

he said all he had was a cai, which is the only thing i have to...

we did a 30 roll and i pulled him nasty. pretty bad.

then we did a 50 roll...and same thing.

now im not saying you didnt win, its just that, no a stock gti can not beat an lt1. sorry.

again, nice kill

If you were refering to me in GTO then yeah it wouldnt be a fair match. My GTO has a 402 in it but still would have crushed a bolt on LT1 with just headers.

Man I just sold my bolt on LT1. Really wish I hadn't had too. I loved that car it was a great highschool ride. And my ****'s a pullied GTP, don't ya know we beat H/C/I LS1s from a roll...

One could argue that "crushed" is subjective in this sense, however I'm sure the majority of the people here would describe what would happen as "crushed". Assuming a slow roll to really see the speed difference that sounds like 500rwhp vs 290rwhp. C'mon what do you think is going to happen? Nothin' wrong with pride in your ride, but you have to accept the obvious.

Yes I will agree and say your car could surprise and stay close to a stock GTO. However notice above. 402=not stock.
