I doubt you'll see anyone in here calling a LS1 engine "****" regardless how fast cars get. The LT1 slamming in here is silly. I've seen PLENTY of fast LT1 based cars.

Hey I've got a 96 LT1 6spd and I can drive the **** out of it.........but its slow..especially in a 1/4 mile where an ls1 will steadily pull away every time..I gotta give it to ya kid..you're persistant and your car does sound quick for the mods..but you had to know you'd catch hell for talking up a lt1 with a few mods

A Golf GTI is incredibly slow in stock form. Under 200hp (unless it's brand new), 3300+ lbs and most mags clock them in the low 15 to high 14 second range.
I'm surprised you beat an LT1, my guess is the other car needs a driver mod.
Nice kill either way.

I know I'm catching hell, but I know that my car runs same times as a few 22x/230x cammed lt1s around here and runs better than any stock ls1 around here and the same as most bolt on ones...i know its not normal and that a bolt on ls1 will pull me from a roll....but i bet that an ls1 with headers/exhaust will not pull me by no more than two cars to the top of fourth.......and less if its an auto....i just want to prove it....Im not being cocky just physics are in my favor....power/wt is important....

For example my car with me in it is 3450 with approx 310rwhp its pwr/wt is 11/1 and a full weight ls1 car like a ws6 with driver is probably 3675 and probably 350rwhp...which is roughly 10.5/1 thus making the ls1 car slightly faster....but not enough to walk away and making it a reasonable close race....

Also with a goat weighing i believe around 3900-4000lbs with driver putting its power to wieght a very similar 10.6/1...

I dont know why you keep using this ricer math like I should be running this and I should be making this. I was just going off of what you have actually run and that wouldnt cut it. 8.5 @ 83 mph isnt anything special at all. Do you remember the time i posted of header tune only GTO running 12.1 @ 113 mph? Thats what they are capable of, I dont think you are and 8.3 @ 83 would run out to maybe a mid 13 @ 105 mph.

Exactly. LS1's will never be ****, not with the kind of power potential they possess (and for the money!). LS1-powered vehicles will continue to tear holes in the competition for many years to come.

I remember all the bashing I received with my LT1 SS. The procharger usually put that to an end though.

To me, any car that can hit 13s is fast. Anything more than that is just faster.

Actually any car that is faster than 90% of the cars out there would be considered fast.

Just because one get used to a faster car, doesn't make other cars slow. It just makes the faster car faster. IMHO of course.

I've heard people say that a car isn't fast until it's in the single digit numbers.

I simply call that extremely fast.

+1. My stock shortblock times in sig were with a baby 227/233 grind with under .6" lift, just like described. Only trapped 115, but hooked what it made pretty well.

Cammed LT1s running mid-high 12s is embarrassing.

Get with it people, ls1 cars will respond a lot better to mods than lt1s. It is newer technology. The lt1 is not slow, but with each year, engines become more efficient and make more power with the same parts. I enjoy my lt1 for what it is, and when it blows up, I will probably put an lsx into it. My car runs great on the street for what it has, and I need to get it to the track.

It has the comp cams cc305, 1.6 rr, electric water pump, msd 6 al box, holley 58 mm tb, ported intake to match the tb, hooker shorty headers, full cat back with the cat deleted. It also has a 3400 stall converter, and will have 3.73 gears this summer. My car has run with some gtos and ls1 camaros in the area. It will also lay the smackdown to some unassuming mustangs
