Default 2009 G8 GT vs 2005-2009 Mustang GT

This is the race I've been looking for ever since I got my G8 in November of 2008! I was cruising home after hanging out with some car buddies tonight and I see a black 2005-2009 Mustang GT in front of me. From the sound, it had an axle back exhaust or maybe a cat-back, but that was probably about it. Also sounded like a 5-speed from his downshifting. Very nice looking car with red leather seats. I had one passenger and he was alone.

We got to a light and I wasn't sure if he would go or not. I was ready when it turned green and took off strong, but he didn't hit it so I backed off immediately. I was ahead and when he was about a car back I sead screw it and nailed it. I saw and heard him hit it, but could tell that he wasn't gaining.

A little ways up the road, now that he knew I was game, he pulled around a car and got into the right lane. I got next to him and heard him downshift and hold. I downshifted the G8 and honked it off going about 50 mph. We both hit it and I started pulling away slowly. I probably got between 3/4 of a car and 1 car out on him and then shut it down at around 90 mph (the road we were on was clear in front, but once in a while cops hide out).

Once we slowed down he got next to me and gave me a thumbs up, which I returned. I'll definitely be looking out for the guy since it was a very good race and he seemed cool.

I honestly had no idea how it would go, but I figured it would be a good race either way! Very fun time, especially since I don't get too many races in the G8.

Haha, I'm sure someone will make that claim for real!

Next on my racing wish list is a new Challenger RT

Haha, thanks man! On paper the cars should be very evenly matched. I really wish I could have run him from a dig, but I wonder if he knew traction would be tough with that 5-speed compared to my auto...

I believe he weighed it at the track. 3,990 without him in it.

Haha, I'm sure that would go well! I still think Todd should race me...but he has to start from a standing position outside his car and then jump in and go when the flag drops

Haha, a CTS-V is decently faster than a G8 even if the V is stock. I'd expect the V to beat a Challenger RT, but I think it might be a good run for the G8 with the Challenger being available with a manual transmission.

I'll run maxspeed if you guys want, but it's not even going to be a race with him being up at least 120 rwhp

I think a little shot is in order for that G8...

Haha, yeah I saw it claimed somewhere that the G8 Firehawk would trap 124. I figured it was a typo and they meant 114 since there's no way a 4000 lbs car is hitting 124 mph with 500 flywheel horsepower.

After a little research it seems that they are now claiming 115 traps.

You can take any G8 GT and have it making 450rwhp MINIMUM with just boltons, tune, and mid range cam. Don't underestimate them! The power of those L92 heads and L76 intakes is phenomenal: On the flow and power charts the heads are comparable to AFR's 225 heads; intakes are the equivelant of a unported FAST. Seriously.

Without looking it up, a GT would be at 450rwhp or GXP or both?
