Smile WS6 vs Vortech 3v GT

So i stopped by the 2920 meet tonite, pretty much just business as usual. Mostly junk, a few nice cars there. A guy I know tells me i should run this kid in his blower GT. Black 3v, 05 or 06, black wheels and a cowl hood, good looking car. I havent had much action since the cam, so i said sure.

We head out to mexico, line em up on a 40 roll, and i honk it off. He gets the hit on me by about a fender. He's grabbin third in my ear (ouch, windows mostly up next time!!!) by my 6k, i run it to 6500 pulling even with him. Grab 3rd and start to walk off slowly, grab 4th and shut down around 115 me around a car and change ahead. We hit a U and ran the same race, same result, he gets the hit, i reel him in put a little more than a car on him by 120.

Get a 60 freeway pull in on the way back, but had to shut down way quick for traffic. Got back, cool kid, said full bolt ons, vortech at 11psi, 4.10s. Pumped that i cracked a blower car even though I was asleep at the wheel lettin him get the hit both runs. Had we gone to a higher speed it only would have gotten worse for him, i was steadily putting daylight between us by 120. I could only figure how ugly that race would have been had i had my head swap already. Anyways, thought i would post it since it's my first really worthy kill since i got the cam.

Cliffs: cam and bolt ons Ws6 runs 11psi blower 3v GT. WS6 wins by 1.5 cars both runs.

Edit: a few friends are saying that car should have gotten me... His 2 ~3 shift sounded kinda suspect but gear to gear both of us in third i was pulling him. Worse once i hit fourth. Should a 3V on 11psi be faster than that?

thanks, i guess how you drive it and how it really runs is all that matters!! btw now i have a friend that knows the owner of the mustang saying that its really more like 9.5-10psi of boost, but who knows what is really true. Even if that was the case, it sounds like it should have been faster. He did pop the hood after and it definitely had a vortech blower on it so thats not bs at least. All i know is the old cammed LS1 surprised him either way!!! I know my dyno numbers arent really pretty, but it made a bunch of under the curve power and it feels like an animal from 3500 to 6500.....

Depends on how much money i decide to spend, i'm thinking of some prc 5.3 heads to bump the compression a touch and they are super budget friendly. I'll probably go something along those lines seeing as i'm thinking down the road the car will probably get a stroked 6.0 block and i'll be getting bigger heads to go with that so i dont want to blow a ton of money on heads for a motor that probably isnt going to stay around for a super long time.

As for the kid in the blower car, if you mean green as in new to racing, he seemed semi legit. I'm no serious pro at bangin gears, but i was definitely busting him on time in between shifts. I did make most of my ground on him while we were both pulling through third and fourth though. If you mean green as in pissed he lost, you could tell he thought he should manhandle me, but he was not in the least a sore loser. He didnt make excuses, just congratulated me on the win....

Lol good mustang hahaha...yeah dude congrats on a really good win and good luck with the car. With the head selection honestly I would either wait or buy heads you can use on both, from what ive seen on my buddys 04 GTO. I would look at trick flow heads. He is making 475 hp 465 tq to the wheels on a mustang dyno with mild cam and slight bolt ons. Either way again good job and good luck with the TA

Yeah if budget allows when i get ready i'll go TFS or AFR, but who knows where this car will go by then. My final goal for this car is a true ten second street car, drive it to the grocery store friday, throw on slicks and take it to the track and hang the hoops on saturday. I've tossed around the idea of FI or stroker w/ spray but who knows how i'll get there in the end. Right now i plan on getting the car prepared to handle the power i plan on making in the future. My next move is a MWC 9" and suspension, then probably a clutch that can handle the launches....
