How many more ponys can the little 302 make n/a. Stock 360, tune and cat-back = 42 more, how many more you think it will make. I say low to mid 400 average 2011 stang, very rare or never we will see a 500hp n/a 302. Just have to wait and see. About time ford step it up

Numbers don't lie huh? Yeah...it's pretty easy to tell that you're still a student. If you're not, the real world is going to smack you in the face with a dose of reality.

Jay, you can't start a BS thread about mustangs... We have like 100000000 of those already. They never... Ever... Ever... Ever end.... Ever... Ever. Never ever....

Damn, looks like my heads/cam car is not going to cut it anymore if bolt-on GT's will be hanging on my front fender! I guess it's time to start saving for more cubic inches

Spend $500 on some roach spray and you'll be all set.

We're going to have to get used to this thought process when concerning n/a Mustangs now...Hmmm pretty cool IMHO

It's definitely something new to the game! Ford should take this technology and drop a 427cid in the next GT.

I'm excited about the new mustangs. We'll likely see a whole new HP war, at least between GM and Ford.
Dodge keeps talking about making changes to their power-trains, but they still have the same tired 5.7 and 6.1.
The 6.1 is great, but the price tag they have attached to it is ridiculous.

I think the new mustang is a good thing. And honestly, I would seriously consider one over a 2010 SS. Nicer interior (IMO), lighter, better handling, quicker. I have yet to sit behind the wheel of one though, so it's a little too soon to tell.

I'll grant you that I don't know everything, but if you can make that number something other than 4% I'd like to see it. This isn't thermodynamics, you can't just use a different reference enthalpy and call the other guy wrong. All I did was divide the number of cobras produced by the number of mustangs produced; that's a pretty cut-and-dried calculation.

Just out of curiosity, what kind of engineer are you? If you don't mind me asking, of course. I like seeing intellectuals around here.

I was hoping to see a 6.0

What does your car run? Have any time slips or dyno sheets? I'm guessings................... .......................... 12.8 @ 109mph is your absolute BEST. (and I think even there I'm giving you too much credit) How close am I?

of course, JMO

cool read though

p.s...i haven't seen the new camaro hit these numbers yet and it has a freakin 6.2...lame!
If the new 5.0 is what they say it is that is one AMAZING motor! They are doing with that motor something I could never do with a 302 pushrod and an open bank account. Technology is just a bitch. Just imagine what the same level of parts would be on a bigger motor. You would be looking at a 470rwhp stock car that drove like a Maxima. Its hard to compare a Ford to a GM because Ford hasn't ever recently made a motor that was the same size. Closest thing you can get is the N/A 5.4L out of the Cobra R and compare it to the still bigger and less powerful LS1 or for the cry baby GM owners we can compare it to the LS6 just to shut them up. Still, less cubic inches = same or more power. Ford = winner IMO.

Now on the topic of the "Ford has to use a blower to make power" cry. All Ford did was make the power they wanted for the cheapest amount of money they could....isn't that what we all do anyways when we mod our cars? I don't want to buy a set of $1,200 headers when my $400 set of headers will do. I'd rather take that saved money and put it somewhere else.

But hey, thats just my opinion on things... Ford knows whats up! Always has....Sales numbers don't lie.

It should be: "Knowing that it took Ford 17 years to make the Mustang GT faster THAN the Camaro."

I feel you on that!!! I think I will give this 331 another season to see what I can squeeze out of it in the 1/4th. Then I'm jumping ship to something alittle wider and taller.
