BMW M6 Convertible vs. C6 Z51 6-speed Convertible
Hey Guys, new here as I just found out about this place. This was actually a pretty sweet race for my 1st post. So I was with my friend (who ironically enough just picked up an E92 M3) and we were late to a BBQ. I was going pretty fast and past up 2 guys in a black M6 Convertible with some deep dish chrome rims on. Suddenly I see him trying to catch me in my rear view. I slow down for him to catch up and he blows by me. We both have our top down BTW. Anyway, I catch him at triple digits and pull up next to him and yell him to slow down so we can get a run. We both slow down to 45 mph or so and I hear him downshift (by the way he was shifting it sounded like an SMG per my friend). Anyway, I give 3 honks and we both get on it. By 70 mph I was able to pull almost the length of the vette, by the 3-4 shift at 110, I was able to pull another car. By 130 or so when I shut down I had about 2.5-3 cars on him. It was fun. I didnt expect to pull on him like I did, but it was sweet. My friend was impressed.

07 LS2 Z51 6-speed. I researched a bit more and definitely makes sense. BMW M6 Vert's are generally 12.8 or so cars. I've ran a PB on 12.38 @115.86 stock my one time to the track. I honestly thought I could run better too...

What do you mean by that?
Should've been a closer race than that, but nice kill.
PS here's a vid... could've gone differently...

honestly a ls2 vette is a 112-115 mph car and the M6 is a 114-117 mph car..
So really the M6 has some advantage..But the C6 is much more sleek in desighn and coeficient drag so if the speeds got to the 120 plus range then I can see this..
Sweet run

I believe the M6 convertible is considerably heavier than an M6 coupe, is it not?
:EDIT:
I found the two car's weights. The M6 'vert is 489lbs heavier than the M6 coupe.
The coupe is 3909lbs, the convertible is 4398lbs.
I'm not surprised by the results of the OP's race.

Yeah, but M6 coupes can run 205mph with the limiter taken off... I wouldn't doubt that the convertible could touch 200mph. They have EXCELLENT gearing up top, so I do wonder how the OP could have been steady walking him up top. I would imagine that if they had gone higher than 130mph, the M6 might have come back.

wow 400 pounds heavier????
my vert is 70 pounds lighter than the hardtop version..
I wouldnt take to much stock in this kill then..the 3900 pound one would probally eat you up..
Then again vert verses vert so take stock all you want and good kill

I know that the V10 in the M5 and M6 sounds like you're on the starting grid at LeMans with the right exhaust setup.
