Well last night I took the SS out for a cruise and on my way back I stopped at the gas station to fill up. As Iam getting out of my car I heard a stang pulling in, it was a 02-03 5speed. It sounded nice and it was lowered and as he pulled up on the other side of my pump I noticed a big ole moster tach. So we both finish filling up and he asked me a couple questions about my prostars and then we proceed to leave. So he follows me out and down the road and starts pacing me. My street is coming up but I decide to just keep going. Well we happen to catch the next light and he is in the lane next to me. Once the light turns green we both rolled out kinda easy and then at the same time jumped on it. Well I put a solid 2-3 lengths on him on the 1-2 up shift and hit 3rd at around 6500 and put another length or so on him before I let out of it. He just kept going and never gave a thumbs up or nothing. I think he was kinda pissed. LOL

FOr you to only put 3-4 lengths and him to be so pissed, I'm pretty sure he was modded 'nicely' and probably wasn't too happy. YOu'd had blown away a bolt on 2V

monster tach?..WTF. call me lame, but I think that is one of the stupidest things to have (unless it's a full out drag car). It's right up there with fart can and 6' spoiler.

Yeah now only if I hit 150 shot on his ***, then he really would of been pissed. LOL

I didn't notice those numbers were with the shot.

he was probably full bolt on, or low psi blown.

Either way....nice kill.

I agree though, probably full bolt on with gears and some other goodies. Nice looking car though.

Thanks, yeah kinda sucks but hey it happens. I know Ive been walked a few times in my day but still give a thumbs up.

That's surprising for another Stang guy on here bash a monster tach, I'd rock one in a HEARTBEAT if it was the only/cheapest option to shift at the RPM I want to accurately...stock tach is garbage and one in a million are accurate in the upper RPMs...personally I'd just get a Raptor Shift light and put it in my vent.

The stock tachs aren't junk in the NE stangs. Only the 5.0s were they known to be off. Even then, there's nothing wrong with using a smaller tach, or finding out just how 'off' it is and go off of that with a light or memory. Personally, Unless it's a single digit or maybe 10s, I wouldn't even worry about a shift light. Shift light in a 13 second car?

And if you're that worried about shift consistancy, then setup a good running auto tranny. IMO anyway.

The tach in my 5.0 is dead on. No way I would put a monster tach in my car.
