dude you really are stupid, i have seen several 4cly turbo mustangs bust some ***. as a matter of fact their is one i read in a magazine its a 79 4cyl turbo built obviously, that is running 8s in a quarter

BINGO! Speed is how fast you are going. Acceleration is how long it took you to get there.
Most car races have to do with the latter.
One car may be able to hit 180mph, and another 150mph. But that doesn't mean the 180mph car can out accelerate the 150mph car.
For example I knew a guy that had bought a used (and abused) LS1 GTO. He claimed since his speedometer went to 180 or 200 (can't remember) that he could beat me in a race. Now I know usually a stock LS1 GTO will take a 2v GT, but this was one exception. (I beat the driver) He claimed since I beat him, I HAD to have been running "NOS" because HIS car was rated at 200mph or whatever. I get this all the time from people. Mostly teens and young 20 year olds.

And I'd actually love to check out the ZR1 man.
Glad there are some people that appreciate roll racing as well. And well said on that. You are correct that it ONLY takes the launch factor out. Some cars are built to launch. That being said, that car will most likely win or do very well from a dig race, however the faster car will always pull more from a roll.
And, actually my point was the opposite of your last line. The faster car will not always pull more from a roll. If a guy shifts out of his powerband (too high or too low) and/or have gears, or is lighter, then HE will pull faster. Pulling faster = quicker acceleration in that distance; not so much a faster car. that's the point that is lost on a lot of people. The horsepower does become more of an equalizer over what one car can 60' over another, but that's all.
I really dont' know how else I can explain it?
It seems to be a better conversation today over yesterday though.

Well atleast in some of the threads i've been in over there lately, where foxbody 5.0's run 12's with just "free mods and powershifting" and stock for stock an ls1 vs 03 cobra is a drivers race. Lot's of chaos over there.
