Default stock ls1 camaro vs rb25 det 240sx

ok so i have a 2001 z28 and my buddy has a rb25det s13 240sx.My car is bone stock down to the paper filter and is a 6 speed.the 240sx has a power fc or a stand alone tune running 7psi front mount intercooler and has the stock turbo(t28)5 speed.so we finally line them up going down the interstate we both have passengers...i drop it down to 2nd(prob around 40mph) honk 3 times and floor it...he jumps out maybe 2ft then i suck him up grab 3rd keep pulling keep pulling grab 4th and go until the top of 4th until about 125-130mph by this time im about 4 cars ahead we race three times and pretty much the same(except one race i missed 4th lol)so i was very exited about this race cause all ive heard was that it would beat me.now he says let him turn his car up to 10 pounds and he'd put 2 lengths on me...is this true i just dont think it would be possible to gain 4 lengths and then put 2 on me just by turning up the boost 3psi what yall think??

What do I think? Be glad you didnt run this guy:

He also had a 240SX with a RB25DET on 8-10psi (stock psi). IMO he should have walked YOU, not the other way around. Sorry bro, but you better mod up!

Yes, 3 pounds of boost can make a big difference, especially if you aren't running much. (A jump from 7-10 is more noticeable than a jump from 27-30)

He should have walked you, this is suprising indeed, but yes 3 psi will make a noticeable difference.

indeed. my buddy had a sr20 with a few bolt ons (exhaust, fmic) and walked stock ls1's pretty badly. beat a bolt on firehawk as well. thing was definitely really quick. think it trapped over 110.

idk i guess i just got lucky his car only makes prob around 260-275hp? or what he says and only around 250 torque? so idk if he would walk me but idk first time ever racing one..and he raced a 01-03 gt and ran right beside it and i know the ls1 camaros pull on out on the stock gt's

yea i guess with the lower boost levels the boost levels would be making a bigger difference than on a higher boost cars ive never been around imports always v8's or v8's with higher boost

all in all it was a very fun race and would love to do it again even if he walks me aint nothing like it theres always someone faster

rb motors have different series one has the plastic wheel and the other that he swapped turbos with for a ceramic (my buddy has a ceramic)its also a full interior 240sx and weighs about 2600-2700lbs even fully gutted drift 240's dont way around 2000lbs so im thinking the race was about right between me and my buddy but my question is how close will it be with the 3lbs added thats the mystery?

Well I guess I'll say what no one else felt the need to...good kill! Whether he *should have walked you or not means nothing, the fact he didn't means more. Not all cars with the same setups run the same.

+1

Sorry man, my bad I totally went off on a tangent and forgot to congradulate you on your kill!! Bet you were as surprised as I was at how fast those little 240SX's can be with a simple engine swap. When I tracked him down and heard how low his boost was, I was kinda depressed.
