Most people are worried about "harming" the transmission.

The thing is, like what was already said, it's an algorithm that's built into the PCM that cuts ignition timing, allowing for a small window of opportunity to NLS to keep boost up as well as allow a nice "smooth" transition for the synchros in your transmission to mesh easily.

OP,

Good kills on both cars.

Now do yourself a favor and have someone tune over that S1 for you

Some people are seeing some great gains

i already broke my shift linkage without the nls

don't need any more damage.

it seems to keep up with the flow of traffic without using it.

How hard you pull the lever has nothing to do with NLS. Give it a shot, the difference is significant.

no dyno numbers, but i am guestimating around 330/380 or so based on other cars, my tune, and what I have ran with on the street. but dyno numbers are just that numbers, it is what it is.

best part of the trifecta tune is you can toggle between stock and tuned with the push of the TC button. love it.

damn plastic shitty shift linkage, i was running a vette from a 40mph 2nd hit and banged 3rd and it popped right off and i had no gears

i had it towed to the dealer and it was like a week and a half till they could look a it. f that. I went to a local j yard and got the part and fixed it my self.

damn.....i cant imagine that happening.
feels so smooth to just click off the gears with a flick.

ive never missed a gear or a NLS in this car (i do suck at the 1-2 though)
i can shift twice as fast/easy in the cobalt compared to my hugger

Why would to want to nls 1-2? That thing probally already spins second. I know my neon did. 1-2 quick shift, 3-5 NLS. have any of you guys with turbalts ever ran on a track? I haven't seen a turbo one run at my local track. 300+ horse with some tire in that light car should net you a pretty decent time if you can launch it.

ran lsj brakes up front and some suspension mods with a full slick

not bad!

my 2nd is useless from a roll at 40 mph. my 1st gear is actaully tq limited, gets only 7 psi.

i hit the gas in 2nd at 4k and its like I am on ice.

i run bfg drags up front when I am out on the street screwing around

the 7 psi limit must be help alot from a dig, but sucks from a first gear roll.

I hear the combo gm tune + hp tune + trifecta tune traps like 116.
thats ****** crazy

Nice man, I'm really thinking about buying one. That's crazy what a good tune can do. Solid motor mounts on my srt solved the wheel hop problem.

i have ottp rotated mounts, rotate the engine a bit forward to align the axles. no more hop

yes you can run a few tunes loaded into the pcm. vince from trifecta cracked that a while back. you can have the stock tune under normal conditions, dealer visits, valet, etc. hit the TC/cruise/even fog light button and you have the tune of your choice. 24 psi or gmpp stage 1 or a meth tune whatever you want. best part is the trifecta is not detectable by a gm tech when you visit the dealer.

i believe he said there is room for like 5 tunes on the pcm. isn't technology wonderful?

currently you can have the gmpp stage 1 tune or you can have an hptuner or trifecta version of that tune using the 3 bar map that comes with the gm tune(allows to read over 22.5 pounds of boost that the stock map can't handle).

Also, you can have just the gmpp tune, a trifecta tune not based off the gmpp tune with the stock sensor(which is what I have, vince has found a way to get passed the 22.5 psi limit without the gm sensor), or you can have a straight hptuner tune. However. a straight hptuner tune can't read over 22.5 pounds currently, so there is the "pill mod" which kind of tricks the computer, but i won't get into that

all kinds of options.

my 1st does suck anyway you slice it, so i start my races from 2nd at 40mph, right at 4k
