Default 2000 ss vs. 2007 srt8 300c

I was hangin out at sonic with some friends. Two guys walk over and ask about my car. We start talking and one of them has a 2007 300c srt8 with the 6.1 hemi.

He says he has the mopar catback and nothing else. Says it put down 350 to the rear tires.
I tell him my mods (in sig) and said i would guess im at around 320 to 330 at the rear but haven't ever dynoed it.
Both cars are automatic.

Turns out I've met this kid before when he had an 09 c6. He said he sold it because it got him pulled over everytime he drove it. And apparently he has had over 100 cars . This kid cant be any older than 18 btw... I think his dad owns a car dealership or something. idk and dont really care. But yes he is spoiled.

So we agree to run em for ***** and gigs.
1st race: 30-110 He left on the first honk and i left on the third like youre supposed to do. He gained about 1 1/2 cars at first then i started reeling him in and we were even by 110 when i shut down due to traffic.

2nd race: 25 to 100. This time we both left at the third honk. He puts a fender on me immediately but i start reeling him in again and finally put about a car on him by the end of it.

3rd race: We catch a light on our way back to sonic so we figure why not go from a dig. We both spin pretty bad but i pulled the whole time and by 90 when i shut down i had about 2 cars on him.

Recap: race a 300c srt8 in my camaro and win. Both cars pretty evenly matched.

So does anyone know anything about these srt8's? I know they're heavy. What kind of times do they run? Seems pretty quick for a grocery getter

Nice kill!

Yeah they're pretty heavy (it's part of the MOPAR creed lol ) and if it was a 6.1L 300c then probably good for low 13s, and I think a really good driver could hit 12's in great conditions.

Good kill!

SRT8 300/Charger's are no joke. They are heavy cars but once they get going, they move out pretty well. Dont under-estimate them, they'll run 12's with few mods and good driver's.

Great write-up and nice runs. Sounds spot-on to me based on mods. 350rwhp is a bit low, 360-370 is typical for most dynos.

Sounds like he was holding his gear, had ESP fully/partially off and everything right.

All he needs to do is a CAI, Diablosport Predator and a dyno tune for 400-405rwhp.

Great races! I remember getting SPANKED by one of those at the track a while back when they first came out. SRZ and I were counting the cars to see who was lined up with whom and when we saw that I was running the 300C SRT-8, he started joking that I'd never hear the end of it if I lost to that boat of a four door sedan (my car was running low/mid 12s in the mid 11X range at the time).

Turns out it was supercharged and running 11's at over 120 and I got my *** spanked. The best part was that the next time around, guess who got lined up next to it? That's right, SRZ. And he got his *** handed to him, as well.

With CAI only mine came in at 4100lbs, fully optioned '06, with about 2 gallons in the tank on a truck scale that was supposedly + or - 20lbs in variance.

There is one that runs around town near me. He has some exhaust I am not sure but sounds good. I live on a back country road with alot of straight aways. he would catch me on the straights and fall back on the curves. I am putting 345 rwhp 355 tq to the tires. The srt 8 is heavy but those suckers are quick. My wife has a charger r/t and it is slow compared mine.

They really respond well to prochargers. My buddy has a 300c srt8 that he put a procharger on, not sure which one, but he was running mid-high 11s on street tires spinning all on I think 6-8lbs.. then he blew out some ringlands

Nice runs OP. IMO the 300 SRT8 is the nicest looking of all SRT cars - just plain mean!

did you mean predator or dyno tune, because the predators i've seen are like a substitute for a full on dyno tune. i friend of mine runs one on his camaro because the nearest dyno is over an hour away and he haunt gotten down there yet.

Yes and yes. The Predator is required with the CMS software (the dyno) to interface with the car. Then the tune can be altered, etc.

So on the dyno that tuned my car the progression was this:

388rwhp / 402rwtq canned tune
398 / 422 91octane
413 / 432 96+ octane

ooooohhhh ok, i see now, you DO have to have both the predator and then go to a dyno. i thought like with the GM stuff it was one or the other.

Nice write up man I actually had NO use whatsoever for them Chargers when they came out. But after seeing a few and getting used to the newer look, I like 'em. I watched Street Kings the other day and fell in love with Reeves' black SRT8 Charger!

They are very even with F-Bodys i have a friend with one and he had intake and exhaust and i had intake and exhaust and every single race i would get him by a car to 110 then he would fly by me like i was sitting there, those things are a monster from 110 up.
