There no slouch in n/a form compared to any other motor nears its displacment. Look at NMRA Pure Street. A 284ci mod motor went 10.13 n/a at classs weight. The pushrods in that class are allowed to go to 311ci. I'd say thats impressive. Or Scott Cushmans 323" mod motor went 9.2 n/a in a fox and Al Papito's n/a 5.4 went 9.28 in a SN95 body.

Oh, just so some of the other Mustang guys don't flame me. When I say the WAP alum block being the "weaker" one I mean the 02-04 WAP blocks. The WAP's in the 05+ Mustang's are touted for being as strong if not stronger than the Teksid alum blocks from the 1993-1999 era. Anyways, small correction of my own post on that part.

Doubt you would have gotten flamed for that. "Weaker" is kinda relative WAP's are pretty strong also.

btw, there are 1000+ hp lt1s. there are no aftermarket blocks for an lt1 and there is only one factory variation (for the most part)

That's how it was for mod motors until quite recently, and there have been 2,000hp+ mod motors

Well there weren't any aftermarket mod motor head castings until pretty recently either... don't know about the octane though.

I'd build an SBF (351 or 302 based) before I bothered with a mod motor (particularly a 2v). JMO.
