1994 Camaro LT1 vs 2005 "Modded" Mustang GT

Yea but your buddy's LT1 hasn't had a tune up. If he did a tune up he would be running with stock 03 Cobras. You can forget about it if he installs some headers, cut out, and a thermostat!

'96/97 SS's run mid to high 13's at 103-105 BONE-STOCK. My dad's silver '97 wen't 12's with just LT's, tune and drag radials, nothing else...stock 2OTL exhaust, full interior with all the options.
MotorWeek, '96 LT1 SS. Crappy 14.0 @ 104mph at 1:34. FWIW Car and Driver went 13.5 @ 106 in their tester, GMHTP 13.x @ 106. Muscle Car Review holds the LT1 record at 13.3 @ 107 in a '96 SS.

So what was the difference in the SS model on an LT1? Just ram air induction? I know the hawks were rated like 315 HP or so. I'm assuming thats what an SS is as well. Man I am an LT1 NOOB.

btw at the next meet I'm gonna see if I can get that video of us racing. The guy had a HD camera and everything. It's a shame we were on a long bend, I hope my kill got caught on camera.

FWIW, when I had my LT1 (95 z28) BONE STOCK I raced a 2008 GT BONE STOCK.
We were both manual and raced from a dig, he jumped a car on me out of the hole and held the car the entire time to about ~100.
As far as stock, LT1 and 3v are dead even; drivers race.

I raced a manual stock 4th gen GT before, I smoked that guy. There was another GT that pulled on me crazy but he was obviously heavily modded; he came in doing a massive burnout just to prep his DRs. He put a car length on me with each shift.
Civics and Mustangs. You never know what you're in for with them. You either embarrass them so badly that you feel sorry for them or they go straight past you so fast that by the end of the race your jaw is resting on the floor mats.

For comparison purposes, my 97 WS6 ran 13.024@103.33 MPH in 3000DA
Mods were YANK SS3600 Stall, $280 shipped Ebay stainless steel headers & y-pipe, Motive 3.73's, SLP Loudmouth 2 exhaust, very very used Mickey Thompson ET Street Radials cutting 1.74 60's, CE Rear Drag shocks on street setting, UMI Torque Arm on street setting, and in DESPERATE need of a tune. The gas smell burns your eyes at times
However, 3V GT's SHOULD be a good match depending on the driver and they sound damn good with a good exhaust system

Just like LS1's COULD run high 12's from the factory and COULD run mid 12's with DR's

They probably do come with TC, as does my car. But heard him spin in first and second, so I doubt it was on or interrupting it that much.

Funny how a bunch of LT1s have documented magazine runs in the mid-high 13s stock, and I posted 12 different cars that ran mid to low 12s with bolt-ons...yet everyone still dismisses it and claims they can only run 13s with full bolt-ons and cant hang with a 3v .
Its a drivers race every time. They are dead even stock for stock.
