Default Corvette Z06 vs. Eclipse GTS **VIDEO**

Eclipse has 70 Trim Turbo with supporting mods. Not sure on how much boost he was running (I honestly did not care just wanted to run).

Corvette Z06 has Vararam Intake and SLP Loud Mouth Cat-back Exhaust.

Did a 50 roll Eclipse got the jump but I reeled him in quick and put about 5 cars on him (not sure if he let off but before the race he said he wanted a 50-130).

He was a cool dude tho gave me props on my car.

All races done in Mexico.

jeez it didn't even looked like he was racing. Nice kill. I'm guessing he blew the welds on the intake? Cough...Cough...

What is a "70-trim" turbo?

A turbo's trim doesn't really show its size or capability...all it means is the ratio of the exducer and inducer diameter of the compressor/turbine wheels.

I've heard of "50-trim" and "60-trim" turbos, but those are really just nicknames for two common sizes of turbos. I've never heard of a "70-trim". Was it a T-70, perhaps?

As stated above, that was a GS-T, not a GTS.

If you could find out more about his car, that would be helpful in letting me figure out about how much power he was making.

Does it really matter? Whether it's this:

Or this:

It's still crying over wasted rice.

Haha.

It's ironic that your GTO is an import, whereas the Eclipse was assembled in the USA.

i am SO glad someone asked about the 70 trim thing. i realize it does not matter in this thread. but when i am out and about and i hear people reference there civc/evo/eclipse/enterprise starship with a 50 trim or 60 trim and everyone else is like "OOOH" i feel SO lost and i just cant bring myself to argue with them that the trim doesnt tell me ****.

Trim is just a ratio. You could have tiny *** compressor and exhaust wheels and still have a "70 trim".

IE:

Inducer diameter = 53.1mm
Exducer diameter = 71.0mm

The compressor inducer size is what matters. Thats what people mean when they say its a "61mm" turbo etc.

Trim doesn't mean **** by itself, but "50-trim" and "60-trim" are two nicknames for sizes of turbos. A common 50-trim usually supports between 350 and 500hp, and a 60-trim about 400-600.

There are lots of variables, but that's just the most common output ranges for those turbos.

So you just put in a cam, correct? ****, I can't remember what you said you were doing.

I just ask mm for turbo's just because I don't know what else to ask . I know that it doesn't tell the whole story but I know if someone told me they had a 98mm on it I'd be running the other way.

Yeah he just said he has a 70 trim turbo and I was like umm ok. I thought he meant 70 trim as well. I have never seen this car at the meet before so not sure of his mods he just said he had supporting mods with a big 70 trim turbo. The DSM was loud as hell I think he had a Turbo XS RFL BOV. But he raced a stock 03 Cobra and got him by two cars, then I raced the Cobra and pulled him nasty. He was a nice guy probably like late 20's ealy 30's. I hear he knows his DSM and has a few of them. I guess this is just his DD, b/c he said is fast ones were at home.

And yes this was a older race just forgot to upload it so I did yesterday. Now I have full bolt on's TREX cam and im currently getting a new clutch and 390's put in and beefing up the T56 in my whip. And have a few more before 2k11 next year.

Nice kill! I know those DSM's can be badass, although I'm generally lost as well with the turbo lingo. I did learn something here though, thanks to LightningTeg

Wow, that Eclipse got walked hard.

I wish i knew what turbo was in it, because it clearly isn't doing much.
