awe..teh age old ls v. mach debate.

It cracks me up everytime. You know how many mach owners have NO IDEA how to shift their car? I see it all the time...shifting at or near redline in every gear...it's pathetic. They think it's a 99/01 cobra or something. The mach 1 is not setup like other mustangs. the powerband and gearing isn't your traditional mustang. The cobra's shift at high rpm, the 5.0s at a lower rpm...the machs need to be shifted at various rpms. most 'newb' drivers don't know that so the shift like ****.

True. I use to shift my '98 Cobra at redline (about 6800-ish) and it made power all the way up there. Mach 1's won't make much power past 6k.

Different Heads..different cams...but the MACH1 motor still makes the power. "true" power..not "advertised" power. The older Cobra's (non SC) advertized their Hp to be higher than they really were.

Only the 99s made less than advertised and they were recalled. '01s really made 320/300. Same with the 96-98s at 305.

Machs on the other hand were under rated. They're closer to 320, but advertised at 305. go figure.

Buddy of mine is convinced his '98 Cobra is faster than a 5spd Mach 1, just because of the crappy drivers he sees at his home track that can't equal his times.

96-98 Cobra put out every bit of that 305hp rating.

yup. 96-98 Cobras and 99-01 Cobras (after the recall) made their ratings or more. im sure having 3.27 gears coupled with a 7000rpm readline didnt help them much.

It will as long as we have new people and fanboys denying that they aren't pretty darn equal.

stock 103-105mph car (mach1) vs 98-100mph car (95Lt1). sure the LT1 can win some races but the advantage goes to the mach1.
