Maybe it was a Mach 1 and maybe it was a fake, but regardless, it sounds like the guy either couldn't drive or pussed out and considering he was the one giving the look (according to the OP), then I'd chalk it up as a win either way.
It's perfectly reasonable for someone who has no clue what they're doing in a manual Mach 1 to lose 3 cars to an LT1 from a dig. Those LT motors are strong down low and your average high school kid in a fast car doesn't know what they're doing. Blow the tires off for a second or two and then short shift second slowly and that's 3 cars right there.
Bottom line, the driver is usually the big factor in these stories. I'd chalk a story like this up to the drivers before assuming that the guy did a full fake Mach 1 swap with shaker hood and all.

No it exists actually, and believe it or not...it actually works too! You would have just as hard of a time proving it didn't as I would proving it does. Depends on the application, but ram air can and does work in everything from jet planes to vipers to motorcycles. It's just that on a WS6 the driver would have to be travelling at an extremely fast speed for it to work, and even then the gains would theoretically be negligible. The Lt1 ram air setup on the lt1 ws6 was far superior to the ls1 setup (which is over the radiator for one thing ) but is still no treasure. Ram air requires the air to travel UNDER the car on an fbody. But to say ram air is a myth is inaccurate to say the least, and stuff.
Yeah but in which car?

Either way, if you guys go into a race with a MACH and think you are going to end up a "couple" of cars ahead, prepare yourself for a disappointment.
I am not just talking like this because I have a MACH. Proior to this car, I owned a 2001 Z28 6M.

Anyway, out of respect because I am on the LS1 site, Good Kill OP!
And just for the record, I am still of big fan of the LSx motors. I still find it amazing how they can make such good power N/A.

Why? Some GM guys said they would outrun a Mach 1...Mach 1 owners came and put them in their place. If you are going to claim you will beat a certain car you better emphasize on the mods this car can or cannot have.

When I said "you guys" you just assumed I was only talking about the Mach guys right?

Oh and let me reiterate one thing. The original debate was stock Mach vs stock LS1 being a "drivers race". Of course when your talking modded cars that's a completely different thing.
