the block is built for boost so im sure it will take whatever people will be throwing at it after changing the rods and pistons. N/A the only current mods are basic boltons (exhaust/tune/cai) but with that they are putting down 435ish RWHP and trapping 118-119mph in the 1/4. There will be an intake manifold coming out for it soon though that will allow it to beathe freely at 7500++Rpm and i have a feeling it will see those rpms without any trouble.

Well atleast this thread is going pretty calm so far. I wish I could see the guy again before I start my headers install. I would get a better video too.

And 8-9psi is ~550rwhp, which is pretty damn good.

You wont be seeing gains from head porting, thats for sure. Just by upping the powerband via bigger cams and intake manifolds. Hell the Bullitt Mustang 5.0 already revs to 7200rpms? 7500rpms? something like that.

Manny I'll be in Cali again at the end of January. We are now working most of the Boeing flight test planes out of San Bernadino: I can borrow another 5.0 GT if you wanna see how you do against it. ??? Let me know.

Not very impressive considering a bolt-on 2v will keep up with/beat a stock LS1.

Nice vid, I like the freeze frames. Your car ran well for lid/catback/cutout.

Yeah either way folks, good kill dude! It goes to show you that a lil ol' fbody can still run with some real bad boys. I know a lot of people are claiming this or that, but if reality serves me correctly, these new coyotes are most certainly NOT what they were all cracked up to be. 12.3 is very quick, but it's also not the norm, correct me if I'm wrong here? The new 5.0 doesn't seem to be anything that a few bolt ons can't take care of. Hard to really know however, because when a new 5.0 goes down in a race (track or street) the "shitty driver mod" (SDR) is subsequetly activated post-race. It's pretty cool actually, immediately after losing in any coyote based GT, the traction control comes on and the driver experiences a great sense of memory loss while losing all sensation in his face, right hand, and left foot. This feature also is said to add 200lbs to the weight of the vehicle, futher slowing it down more than the average coup. Damn them Ford guys, always one step ahead in technology but two behind in excuses. No honestly though, I think seat time makes a big difference in these cars but I see no reason to think he couldn't drive his car. Older fellas can catch on quick as well people, especially if they're been around long enough to drive a lot of different vehicles. The "driver argument" is sometimes as over-played as the "quicker/faster than norm ets" argument is, imo. Good kill.

Nice job Manny. Doesn't matter if the 5.0 can't shift etc... it lost.

I am telling you guys-I have three friends with these 5.0s with bolt ons, tune, manual trans, and stock wheels with DRs they are hitting mid 11s and trapping 117-119MPH here on the east coast(Cecil and Atco are fast tracks). If you have a bolt on car get the most out of your Et because you will get a bitch slapped if you don't.

I don't think anyone was questioning the win. I think people are rebutting the idea that the 5.0 is over-rated and an easy win for a barely modded LS1. With comparable drivers of course.

DEEEEER that's why the driver mod was mentioned.

nobody here said that all 5.0 drivers will get the 12.3's out of them even though it's been done. But the average 5.0 is still running about 5tenths and 5mph quicker. You'll see a few 5.0 in the mid 13's just like you occasionally see ls1's run very high 13's. Variations happen, especially on the street where it's a completely uncontrolled environment
