Default Porsche 996 Turbo vs 1999 Camaro Z28

996 Turbo mods are intake & tune
Camaro Z28 mods are LS6 intake, LT headers, 4.30 gears, MS3 cam, 9" rear, & tune

As you can see the Camaros power band is a lot better then the Porsche. We were slowly reeling him in but ran out of track. More runs should come in the future from higher mph. Enjoy

gears and torque win that race everytime....porsche more of a top speed car, without the gears in the z28 it would have been a closer race....good kill,, I love the advantage that my 3.73gears give my vette from a roll...lol

That 996 would give you a very hard time from a dig. Especially if you're on street tires.

I don't think it would be too bad. It's not his Camaro though, it's one of his buddies. And the car has a 9" on M/T's so I think he'd be just fine!

That big gear definitely helped him walk away. How about telling the 996 owner to grow a pair and do a dig? Unless you are making like 700+ there is no need for anything higher than like a 50 roll.

Exactly, he's not heavily modded. Porsche knows how to build a car, with near stock power he's not going to blow axles out of it.

Well in all fairness to my friend (owner of the Porsche) Its not his haha like I mentioned he owns a Supra & doesn't do digs. So I'm sure he still would of gotten his *** handed to him by my friends Camaro. Hes never launched his Supra or the 996 turbo from a dig so... I would of offered my assistance but then again I don't know if he would trust me with it

How can he be the owner but it not be his?

If he does decide to do a dig, just make sure he slips the clutch for a split-second before he lets it go. Porsche has good drivetrains, but just dropping the clutch from high RPM is never a good idea (and not usually the fastest way) with AWDs.

The 996 Turbo (non GT2, non x50 package) makes 420hp. If it was a GT2 I would highly doubt your friend would win unless this guy sucks at driving which it sounds like he does. The Turbo does 11.9s @ 116 and the GT2 does 11.7s @ 120mph. The 996 Turbo would be a good race for a bolt on fbody. Then again I would steer clear of the 997s unless you have FI or Nitrous. The New Turbo S does 10.7s at 130mph, about as fast as a stock ZR1.
