Default 11' Camaro SS vs 11' GT500

Ran into this guy on the way home from the local get together. Roads are pretty cold, so we didnt go from a stop or anything. 40-130 I put several buses on him. All he had was a catback, so I wasn't expecting much, but for a mostly stock car it certainly didnt run bad. Was white with blue stripes, love those cars, but too damn expensive... I wasn't on the bottle. Roughly 505 rwhp on motor

Several buses?

He probably makes almost as much power as you (I'm not sure what the 2011 GT500s put down to the wheels stock), and weighs less.

I suppose anything can happen on the street, but that sounds like too much.

The 11' gts curb at 3820. I only tip the scales at 3743 pounds, so I'm certainly not heavier. Most of them (brief search) put down 470-480 stock. Several buses... about 5 cars. Seems reasonable to me. It might have been an 09 or 10 that are a little heavier, but it was the newest style front clip.

I love those gt500's, but they seem to be inconsistent from owner to owner. Some guys run em good and others have difficulty breaking into the 12's with them. I'd still love to run and own one some day.

One bus is about 4 or 5 cars I think, so not "several." Good kill nonetheless.

Lol, I dont know about "several buses"....

1 bus = 2.5-3 cars

Several buses = 3 or more buses = 7-9 cars....

Seems to me like you like to embelish your stories....

yep. from what Ive seen they are about as fast as a ls3 vette at 114-117 mph trapps and arent that fast compared to a 500 rwhp camaro

In the OP's defense. When your five cars ahead from only 40-130 mph the car seems like a small dot. Well terms like destroyed and several buslengths ect merge into your mind. It is at this point were you simply let off the gas and show mercy.

I'm pretty sure (didn't research it, too lazy at this time of night) that the '11 GT500s are a decent amount quicker than the 2010's. So I'm guessing your title of "'11 GT500" was your wishful thinking.

Too bad a guy with 505rwhp in a nice new Camaro cant get any love on this board. You guys are prob right. No way it could have been the 11 GT500. They run 8.80s in the 1/4 stock with bad drivers. All of them. Ok well, there was that ONE guy who ran 8.97 cause he was spinning..........

Wishful thinking indeed OP. Stop trying to tell random people you dont know on an Internet board that you beat cars that are in your performance category.

Not trying to start an argument or anything, but 1/8 mile ET's don't really have anything thing to do with a 40-130 mph race. Probably would have been better off just saying 90% of the people out there can't drive

Either way don't read too much into it. Just ranting that a GM guy with a nice car cant make a post about besting some competition without people getting all bent because he didnt bust out a measuring tape and give them an exact to the inch measurement. If its not on video, its all just stories anyway so who cares?

Do I think it was buses? Nah but I just get a kick out of those who probably have ulterior motives for making sure its in print that car A can only be beat by car B under certain circumstances.

Gotcha, my bad on misreading your post. I agree that he probably just got a bit excited and carried away with his kill, but when we give GM guys a hard time then we're wrong because it's a GM site and when we give other people a hard time then we're GM nutswingers. Either way, it's all in fun.
