Thats interesting, my Mach has 97,000 miles and the build quality is excellent. Since the hood is fiberglass and has a big hole in the middle it does shake when you shut it. Mine has a stock 4.6 stock cams, stock manifolds, stock auto trans, all with 96,000 miles and I couldn't be closer to your car, my best is 11.16@124 so not all cars are the same. I had a 94' Formula and I had my own parking space in the Pontiac dealers service bay. I would still buy a Vette though. Any new car is a crapshoot if your gonna have problems or not.

I read this thread and see lots of asshurting...

The 5.0 mod is a impressive engine for stock and Ford has had many years to perfect it. I would not count GM out yet though. You can bet they have a new engine in the works or a variation of the ls to put them back on top.

I think both cars are decent for the $. Both will stay in one piece if taken care of.

Tell you the truth, they were roll racing, so all the suspension wasnt doing anything from a 40 roll, the sound so dam great and did not deliver, then there were a couple that ran OK.

I don't get the whole "many years" thing... This is the 1st year Ford has used it in any production vehicle. It isn't like GM hasn't had many years as well... 4.6 Northstar, for like 2 decades now. GM isn't "not" on top... They'll run out of cubic inches at some point, which explains the blower. If 638hp isn't enough from the factory, whoever thinks that should open their own manufacturing plant, then build and sell their own cars...

From what I've read, the only engine really "in the works" is the 5.5L(which may be any CI for production) and while it will be good, I'm not convinced it will out-perform the 5L if both go DI. From the looks, the 5.5 will be DI from the start no matter the cubes(maybe 5.7L?). The 5L is also prepared for DI already, so we'll have to see what they come up with later.

I'm expecting the GT500 to use the 5L soon(maybe next yr as a 2013), with DI. Otherwise, it's the only platform for the 5.4L anymore. I think they're simply using up stock before the changeover. The other option is the one serious Ford fans are frothing at the mouth over... 6.2L.

I had a hard time getting my LS6 swap with bolt ons hooking with the stock suspension at 40 MPH on street tires. Did some suspension stuff and it would hook just fine. Still needed DR's from a dig but it damn sure made a difference from a low roll. Maybe you just experienced some roaches.

These were cars on DRs ect, even at higher rolls they were slouches, just a couple that ran well.

Are you completely retarded? You can't just slap on parts and be fast. Supercharged 4.6s depend on amount of boost on how they run, gear ratio, driver's skill, weight of car, tune, etc etc...

That's funny. When I had my 96 Cobra I literally slapped my Vortech H.O. kit on it, added a mid-pipe/cat-back and hand held tuner and went from 14s too 12s the first time down the track. You make it sound way too technical. In reality boosting a 4.6 is not rocket science. lol

12's are not fast. If you can't slap a blower on a V8 and run 12's you should just give up this hobby.

Sheesh don't know what you're talkin' bout. 12's were movin' for 1996. Especially for a car that averaged bottom 14's stock and had virtually no aftermarket at the time.
