Haha good point. I get depressed when I see most cam/bolt-on new Camaro's running low 12's.... Like wtf didn't know we were going back to my car's performance age of mods (granted the 5th gen would trap faster)

I think biggest issue with camaro is its so heavy compared to the mustang.

My car weighed 3640 lbs with me in it and i weigh 215.

I believe Camaro's are around 3900 for both the auto and the manual - obviously with the manual being a bit lighter.

Comparing that to the Corvette GS's 3300lbs and the base model's ~3208, the LS3 really gets a chance to shine

true with ls3 in vette. But do we really compare a vette to a mustang GT...That like comparing a camaro ss against a GT500...

I wasn't comparing the Vette to the Mustang GT. I was just showing the crazy difference weight does to a car. Vettes and Mustangs are apples to oranges - different classifications for them.

At the same time, people tell me to gut my Trans Am and make it a "drag car" but it will only ever be a street/strip car to me. Hell, I'm even trying to dynomat the whole thing just so it has less road noise. Talk about a step backwards in performance!

Shipping weight on my car was 3456. Thats with all fluids. My car is also not a fully loaded GT either. I know few have weighed there that have leather and all that weigh more. I didnt see point in all the nice stuff as sooner or later it will came out for race seats.

and yes a vet and mustang is on different classes.
I refuse to gut my car right now..One its to new. BUt sooner or later i will put race seats in it. But they will be adjustable for comfort of some sort. I still know i will need a cage and figure i just wait till no one will let me run with out it..I have bunch drag strips around me to play with...lol

Sounds like a plan. What was done to your old G8 GT? I'd LOVE one of those as a DD. Once I wrap up college, a Vette is definitely in the future Need a car I can get into after a long day of work and just take off like a rocket ship. That is my stress relief lol

Just don't buy Kirkey seats. Those are like pretty much sitting on aluminum

Full bolt ons and HSW wet plate kit. 125 shot. Spohn rear suspension also.

I would liek a new zo6 as a daily driver. and leave the mustang as my fast car..It will get a procharger sooner or later. lol

I will be doing Corbeau seats.

Damn it boy, i was under the impression it was 4600 as a base model, no wonder she gets down, i would be pissed if i was driving a new camaro, a 4-500 pound weight difference is a serious setback, LOL.

Chevy needs to get some **** together on the camaro in the weight division but some say there is not much room for improvement, not my problem, i am glad my car is 3450 with me in it, but a fox car and SN all go under 3000 pounds some with and some without drives, i wonder just how light the new stang can go now!

I havent seen any one go under 3k yet. I knwo few who are 3300 and 3400 with drivers in them.

What i noticed is every 5.0 with a supercharger only is running high 10s..Cant be said for camaros..

who needs a cam???? not me

Yea, true true, seems every new camaro i see with a SC is 600 rwhp, not enough to move thos fat pigs, lol.

The new stang and the body before don't look very well in GT factory trim, but man, when Shelby, roush and other companies get ahold of them they look killer, the camaro loils great to me stock and like **** with anything aftermarket besides a hood swap, weird how that turned out for me.

There is what I think is a stock appearance package for the GT that does look good though, the black vynl, it was on the hood, think I saw it in black and blue with those decals, I liked it.

Default Up-grade on the way

Thx guys, it did feel awful good for a start. I had no idea that the 5.0 was so well put together with 4 valves per cylinder. I am definitely going to get 11" or 12" Weld wheels & tires and also cut-outs before returning. I did not get a lot of traction from 20" 05 Drag Radials.I will also practice up on my shifting. Then I will be ready to run.

If you have a F body, get 15x10 wheels with a 275/60 tire, something like that for the track will do well from MT or even a 28x10.5 ET street or other DOT drag, that way it is ok to drive on the street if you get stopped, LOL.

Good thing I read this before I posted. I was about to post something similar...cam only
