Eh...how is that a drivers race.

And its about a 4mph difference in the 1/4 with all things equal.

I didn't know a stock LS1 trapped 90mph in the 1/8th Or could get to 90mph redlight to redlight.

In the 1/4 there is about a .2 difference In et. The mustang has more aggressive gearing than an ls1.

We are talking neck and neck until around 80 where the ls1 puppy about 1/2-3/4 car by the 1/4. Shift 150-200rpms early or hit the limiter, spin or bog just a tad and the mustang is going to out et the ls1 and depending on what happened maybe match the trap.
Same goes for a mach1.

With stock 3.27 gears the 99/01 Cobra's aren't geared that much better than the LS1. Besides you are forgetting about one crucial factor: Torque, and how the LS1 makes its torque compared to the Cobra. An LS1 will produce about 25-30ft/lbs more peak and the difference is even greater below 4,000rpm.

And the difference in 1/4 ET is definitely wider than 2-tenths. You are being pretty generous there. I'd say 3-4 tenths and 4 mph in the best conditions for both.

Remember, a Mach 1 is not the same thing as an 01 Cobra. Its geared better and makes more power & torque due to the more aggressive intake cam grind and cylinder heads among a few other things.

I am not forgetting about torque.. I was actually going to mention that. You have to remember on two bone stock cars and stock tires, probably the one with the better 60' will be the one with less torque.
Does anybody have a link to the record for a cobra? And maybe even mach1? I'm on my phone so its a pain.

A mach1 should be dead even with an ls1 until around 90-100.. Then displacement shows its face. Mach might trap 1-2mph slower and maybe et .1 slower, maybe.

A catback and Cai on either should give them the advantage in et and mph.

I had a 2000 Mustang Gt and my first run at the track i ran a 13.9 at 100 and my last run was a 13.6 at 101. The last run was a 1.9 60ft and the 13.9 was a 2.1. It had borla mufflers and 3.73s on street tires. It was at atco which does have good air but they can be quick driven right with gears. After 3rd gear you can feel how the power dies off especially compared to an ls1 so that's probably why he caught up to you.

Ive raced two ls1 autos in my 5spd mach from a 10mph roll and put a full car by 2nd and kept pulling till 3rd.They were not full out races just short stop light races.I also raced a 6spd ls1 at the track and had him almost the whole way till he passed me up almost at the end.

I dont recall the 1/4 time but this was with my car stock other than a drop in K&N and weld in flowmasters.I would also like to add the race with the 6spd was with me having owned my car for about a month.

Looks like 60mph is when things go heavily in favor for the LS1 - as opposed to 90.

Yea 4th is not to stong in my wifes car because the gear is messed up. I have to shift real slow going in to 4th. I think I might have pulled to about 110 or 115 it I could have banged the gear. The guy sad he could hear me slow shift it. I am meeting up with him again to race again. He has better tires he says. I will let you guys know how it goes.

At 90mph that would still be within 1 car easily. I wouldnt call .2 heavily in favor.
90mph is when the gap starts opening up. Before that beingaround 1/2 a car difference, that's a damn close race in my book.

+1

Stock for stock a LS1 vs any N/A 4v Cobra isn't going to walk away until close to triple numbers. After 100 it gets ugly, been there saw that.

Wrong. Yes it is geared better and has a solid rear as opposed to the IRS in the Cobra. The Cobra has the more aggressive intake cams. The Mach has the improved C head design over the 99/01 Cobra and a slightly better intake.

Technically the Cobra makes more horsepower and slightly less torque. 320hp/317tq 2001 Cobra. Mach 1 - 305hp/320tq

By 90mph there is about a 1 second difference between the two. That's going to give the F-body a little more distance than what you claim.

Regardless the facts do not support your claim of both cars being "neck and neck" or a "drivers race". Just thought i'd clarify things with the truth. That is all.
