I went to the local 1/8th mile track a few weeks ago for a Friday night run what you brung. I was looking for an LS1 car to try my luck against. There was the perfect sucker in the staging lanes. It was a blue T/A automatic with stock tires and a few little mods ( K&N FIPK and Exhaust). The chick driving was more than happy to line up next to a Turd Gen. TPI 305 (LB9), just doesn't sound as impressive as the sent from heaven LS1. Anyway, we launched and her puny tires spun giving me a couple of lengths. She never caught back up and I lit the win light. We drove around and got our time slips, I met my wife in the pits and told her, "You see I told you I could smoke an LS1."
She replied, " I spun almost halfway down the track."
I enlightened her, "Never think you are going to beat the guy that works on your car and coaches your driving."
She gave the IROC a shitty look and told me." Go cut your Mullett."

I have been trying to talk her out of it for years. I have been telling her, they ride rough, you can't see out of them, its a pain to get the kids in and out. We have had it for almost a month, and she has all but abandoned her Tahoe. She told me she never knew driving could be so much fun. Her birthday is coming up and she is already talking cam and long tubes!

HAHA... Good kill on the wife..
I have been trying to get my wife into something fast..It just isn't working. I told her pick your car. srt8, 5.0, or SS. Her reply was nah i am fine with a convertible V6 camaro or a Mercedes..
She still driving her '10 Rav 4 limited. Which she picked over a new 4Runner.
She also works at a Chevy Dealer..

that's awesome.
i have a very similar story, execpt we both had ls1 cars, she just didn't completely understand how bad a stalled auto would pwn her 6 spd car at the track.
from a 20 roll we were door to door with her creeping away after 90. at the track i was knocking on 11s watching her struggle to break 13.50 haha.

I do not have the timeslips here with me, as I am working in Africa right now. I remember them pretty well though. I ran a 9.1 to her 9.5.
I didn't tell her this, but her 81 mph to my 74 trap speed shows who has the HP. Her 60ft. was a high 2.4, so she was spinning. I had instructed her to ease off the line part throttle and roll into it. We had been talking so much bullspit to each other about this race all week, that I guess she got worked up when she saw the IROC's tail lights and hammered it. So, in turn she got to see tail lights for 660 ft.
This was only her third pass ever down the drag strip, second in the car. I don't think the poor 305 will ever do it again, as she has already found enough stuff around our shop to piece together a single nozzle kit with 100hp jets in it. I still told her though that a 100 more hp ain't $hit without traction. She served me a bowl of rice and said lets go from a roll then.
