Default ???Mustang vs Cammed Camaro

I was working at the local drag strip. It was a Boring day with few cars, this young guy had a Slick silver fox body with a maroon hood, Roll cage, Slicks and he was wearing a helmet ( usually means he goes under 8.49 1/8).

He was playing with other cars, his 60ft was 1.8x-to 1.9x 's so he would kill them out of the hole, the best i could get with street tires was a 2.13. I had my car out, but it is Not running good. I am not sure why it will start randomly miss firing the drivers bank?? I said if I could go play I would put it on him. So the Manager says.. GO PLAY

So I did, the first round I got a good, jump but he came by me, then I came back by him and put a car length or so on him, the next time, I thought I will film this one, But I have a new POS phone so when I shifted I squeezed the off button but here is the clip and the time slip. I took my car to my tuner to let him figure out whats wrong I know its not much but I had fun, we ran one other time, but I had him like 5 cars by the end, so he might have let off.

The video is crappy like my phone, but you'll get the picture.

Nice Kill! And OP I mean no offense but when my LS1 was a bolton 6spd I made 2 passes one was a 8.5xx the other was a 8.37 w/ a 1.97 60'. Your trap is high so work on your launch and your et will go waaayyy down.

None taking, I like the street not the track
I went 8.46 completely stock, I have to leave easy to not break another pos 10 bolt, the reason i posted was because he had slicks and cage a helmet, and was killing the other street cars, i have street tires and the Miss in the coil bank???

What is it suppose to trap?
Did you miss the part where i said i was miss firing the coil bank????

And ill be the first to admit it needs a drag racing driver mod, I came from left and right racing .. this is the first car i have ever took to the strip.

Yeah those are a real weak point as we all know. I can understand not wanting to break it. I know that mine is on borrowed time so I'm not really launching hard @ all. Its sooo funny a cage helmet and slicks to trap well under 80mph.

thanks, me too

Is 88 slow for a stock head and cam car? I thought it did ok, especially since its having problems. I took it to my tuner because I am stumped. I checked the coils, replaced the crank sensor, even replaced the coil harnesses???

Nah 88 mph in the 1/8 is good IMO. I ran my bolton m6 car at a track w/ 100 shot and ran a 8.21 @ 91mph w/ a 2.16 60' but the same day no nitrous I ran I ran the 8.3 @ 84mph w/ a 1.9x. To be 7mph faster in the same distance but only go a tenth faster it just shows it really is all in the launch.

I was talkng about it being funny that the stang has a helmet cage and slicks and couldn't go faster than interstate cruising speeds.

Well is it a stock car or a ls2 car or a cammed ls2 car?

Your signature and your posts are confusing.

Sorry, as I get older I get more confused

Yes Ls2, 6.0L stock heads and block (iron not aluminum)with a cam, no weight reduction, factory everything including A/C, Interior, ect, 6 speed car, on street tires.

Thanks for everyone comments.

edit:

no, it should trap way more than 88. i'd expect a cammed ls2 to trap closer to 95.

another edit: have you checked the plug itself? i chased a misfire for over a month that turned out to be a bad *new ngk plug.

the car misfiring would definitely slow it down. don't know what it would do on all 8.

since we're all measuring peters here, the ta in sig with a lid and weld in flowmaster went 8.29 @ 88. full weight @ 2200+'. other than that it was a bone stock 99 car on sportlines that had ~75k miles on it.

Umm, there is no such thing as a iron block/head LS2. You took a truck engine and decided that since it's a 6.0 displacement that it then makes it a LS2??

I guess so, is it not a 6.0l Yes, it is a truck block,is there a difference? I was told I could get better stock heads than whats on the car, but being a student cash is hard to find laying around. They were hand rubbed, and going from a stock Ls1 head using the same valves I gained 20rwhp on the dyno, only cost me $300. If some one wants to donate a pair of aftermarket heads I'll try them.
