That's really not a lot for a GM motor though. Actually, it's really just LS motors. My friend is doing a mild build on his 305 turd gen and .525" is BIG lift for him. Over .600" isn't that common on LT1s either. However, a lot of LS motors go over .600" since the heads can keep on flowing, even on mild cams.
Just an example of a mild cam that leans toward the aggressive side:
Texas Speed Tsunami- 235/240, .648"/.609", 111 LSA
...I say mild because it doesn't even have 8* of overlap.

Oh I see I thought it was engines in general. You are right GM likes a high lift cam.
I have a friend with a 302 fox that's always saying how a 305 cant do what his 302 can. I was curious to see if they can if built right.
