Just an example of a mild cam that leans toward the aggressive side:

Texas Speed Tsunami- 235/240, .648"/.609", 111 LSA

...I say mild because it doesn't even have 8* of overlap.
I prefer .705 lift in a well built big block myself. A good 400+cfm head @700 will get the groceries home in a hurry.

What's your friend getting out of that 305? Don't see many 305 builds.

On stock LS1 or LS6 heads, you won't see any PTV issues with that.

We were talking small blocks really. Everyone loves a BB.

Not much, I mean, it's still a 305. He just wanted a cheap cruiser with a V8 and t-tops. Now he just did some vortec heads, carb swap, a cam. He's says he bought a cc503 for it, but he's been known to bullshit a time or 2, so it might just be another friend's stock LT1 cam. Carb isn't ideal either, but it was free (Holley 600 I think). He's getting a new (posi) rear for cheap from another friend with some 3.73s, hopefully next week. Should be a solid mid 13 car, maybe more. Don't really know what to expect from it.

Oh I see I thought it was engines in general. You are right GM likes a high lift cam.

I have a friend with a 302 fox that's always saying how a 305 cant do what his 302 can. I was curious to see if they can if built right.

Good kill OP

IF and if being the key word, the right parts are used on the 302..I would agree with your friend.
