For what the incredible vast majority of people will do, that stands. When somebody goes to the extent you have (stroker, h/c), then boost is a cheaper option. But remember, a DOHC 5.4 is also an option...and they make some good power N/A. I don't think anybody argues that the LS/LQ motors are king of the hill when it comes to performance/dollar though.

Stock block argument doesn't get very far when the motor is way behind mod for mod anyway.

An LT1 block will hold way more power then an LS1 block, but that doesn't make it a better motor. An x275 car went 7's this year with a factory LT1 block (since we don't have any aftermarket ones!) and makes somewhere around 1,600hp.

That doesn't make them a better choice then an LS though!

Why are you guys arguing with these furd morons? **** just trying to get answers on decent tuning software to tune that **** takes a act of god.

I'll break it down for you guys......If a engine moves more air(air = hp) n/a that gap will only grow when you boost it. The ls will by far move more air.

While you furd **** are busy yankin your pee wee over Mihohiohuo don[t forget to think that he is in a Pro mod car. The Chevy stuff has been 6's in a chevy chassis. Now not that any of that matter cause none of have a 6sec car.

At the end of the day, an engine is nothing more than an air pump.

Good point Hio! Or I should say, THE point!

And some air pumps are more robust than others, so they can pump a lot of air even if they are smaller. Trust me, I'm not trying to say that mod motors are better on the street than LS motors. But the inability to appreciate anything but your own personal preference is just silly to me.

I really don't know how anyone can look at it any other way.

yep.....and your not gonna find ANYTHING that most of us can afford more robust than a ls engine.......period......it's not even a argument. That's a fact......no if ands or buts about it. For christ sakes there are run of the mill pick up truck ls engines running 8's.

Speaking of, why is the argument LS1v4.6? Both sides have better, later technology that blows the doors off both the LS1 and 4.6.

No idea. I honestly don't even remember what sparked this particular conversation.

I am well aware of the strengths of the LS motors. The owner of Calibrated by Karger and I have been friends for 15 years (though it has been far too long since I've seen him), and he has a MEAN LQ4 notchback. But he also has an SN95 Cobra. And a C6. And an E36 BMW. He is what you would call an "enthusiast," and can appreciate all sorts of cars. Whereas you have what almost seems like an intolerance for anything other than what you would personally buy or do to your car. Why is that? Have you ever just told somebody with a Ford/Honda/etc "nice car," without having to put your two cents in?

I just want you to know, that IF I knew you better and IF you knew me better and IF there weren't a thousand ways for the half dozen cranks intent on doing so, making it into somethin' it ain't… I'd launch on a string of hilarity, stinging zingers regarding 'floors', 'vinegar'… 'stinks' and the generic 'old lady'.

No way to go there from here, without vaginas bleeding from every corner of the thread.

Such is the sad state of affairs, in this once… great nation.
