Brand name not an issue. Chevy, Ford, Nissan, etc.
Find a blown up f-body and put a junkyard 6.0 in it and you have a solid 13 sec car.

Find a high mileage F-body w/ LS1 & T56. Then just do some basic upgrades and maintenance.

Dealership wouldn't let me customize my SRT8 and only have 1 spot apparently. Can't order another one. Better for me was going to cost $85k.

Getting a WK1 instead. Already got a buddy looking for a low mileage one. Already gave him $15k to reserve one he finds to let dealership know we serious.

Going for a 2010 low mile black on black. Going to probably bolt on to start and then go vortech within the month or two.

Thankfully I have a few buddies who have a lot of knowledge and snagged some good deals so I think it could easily be done. You would just have to be on the look out for a clean roller for a good price and see if the right junkyard parts show up.

Buddy picked up an 01 Z28 for like ~$2800, sold the broken LS1 for a decent chunk of change, sold the T56 for like $1,000-$1500, and then picked up a 4l80e from craigslist for $300, junkyard 100k 6.0 lq4 for $500 complete, and then he did a budget on3 turbo build with a speedinc tu1 cam. Makes 606/569 on 14psi running E85 and he has ~$4,500-$4,800 of total sunk cost in it (after selling ls1/t56)

Edit/Disclaimer: Need to add that a buddy made him a custom turbo kit for it, so that definitely cut down the cost A LOT!

I mean its possible but not everyone has the chance to get parts for that cheap. Id just buy a blown up f-body and do a 6.0 like sweet99ss said

I already have a d1sc, pulley, crank pulley, and j-bracket, BUT I'm currently between jobs and didn't get the job I thought I was sooo I'm trying to decide if I can be patient enuf to wait and do the procharger when I get a job or if I should do a set of heads now....

What cam do you have in it now?

Heard that man. I'm mostly thinking turbos because that is what all of my buddies are doing right now. I'd love to find a quality single turbo kit for C5/C6s for the future. I'm excited to see what my buddy's 402 ls2 with an 88mm is going to do

I have a 224r which isn't exactly for boost, but I was told it wasn't bad either. It is on a 113 lsa.

That would be super mild, even with a nice set of heads, but I imagine it'd still definitely be more fun than just cam/bolt-ons.

The question is if you get a job, even a lesser paying job, how soon could you realistically see the car being ready to go with the supercharger and street ready?

All comes down to personal priorities and how soon you want it done man.

It definitely sucks walking by my jet ski in the garage whenever I'm at my parents knowing I'm making payments and can't use it 8 months out of the year, but for the 4 months I can use it, it is beyond fun - same thing with the boat - and it makes sense to do payments because I'm making more interest in my investments than I'm paying for the jet ski financing.

All comes down to whatever would make you most happy. I'd say wait and save yourself some money and do it once and do it right

See that's the thing I could have a well paying job tomorrow I just don't know. I'm waiting on the call. Or I'll have to take a lesser paying job and in that case Idk if the procharger will be affordable... I mean the procharcher isn't the problem. I know the 4l60e won't last long at all once I'm running boost. So that's another $2400 thrown in for a built tranny... I think I just need to be strong and hold out for the procharger though. It will be worth it in the end!

We'll see how long my buddy's 4l80e lasts on 606rwhp, but he is running a stocker junkyard one with 100k on it when he bought it, threw in a shift kit and a 3500 circle d and it runs like a champ.

I'd definitely go 4l80e if I could with an f-body

I don't think I could afford a 4l80e. Not really sure how much it costs to put on in though. It'd be much easier just to put the 4l60e back in I think?... For $2500 or so RPM transmission rebuilds them to hold like 1000hp. I know they have tons of 800hp + cars with the rpm 4l60e going a long long time. Even 1000hp cars on RPM built 4l60e.

That seems the route to go then for you.

I think it took him a little bit of work, new crossmember, etc, but it wasn't too bad.

Might as well just get a built 4l65e. RPM makes a good product. I had a performabuilt level 2 in my 97 WS6 and liked it. I bought it back when they were dirt cheap though. I think after sending my core in it was like $1,550 shipped

Just got done putting some Lt`s and catless mids on an 09 challenger. It really woke that thing up Before from a dead stop it would bark the tires and go, now it lights em up on the launch. Also it breaks em loose for about 10 feet from a low roll on the downshift (A4) Still on the stock catback!

I would talk to the vendor about that. I'm 99.9% sure they are done on an exchange basis. You send yours in, you get a built different one.

There is a core charge if you don't send in yours
