Default Ran into a G37 in my vette

Well, yesterday i was coming to pick up my gf from her house... As i was driving in the city, crossing an intersection, i see this blacked out G37 making a right in front of me! The situation made me slam on the brakes, but as he turned he gave his car the beans...

" no problem, just another jackass " im thinking. As i merged on the freeway, i saw that he started following me very aggressively. He wanted to play i guess...

So here we are, find a little open stretch on the highway and we both slow down to 58 mph... This speed made me downshift to 2nd... As i was getting ready, the driver rolls down his limo tinted window, and tells me 3 honks. Perfect! At least he knows the rule!

So i honk it off. 3rd honk and im spinning in "competitive mode" my tires are crap... But i still managed to steadily pull him off the bat.

We shut down due to traffic, and at the middle of my 4th gear. By that time he was about 2 solid cars back, and i did notice that i was constantly pulling away without a problem.

I dont know about mods, but i did hear a what appeared to be a catback and CAI...

I myself am just a CAI, and hypertech tuned.

By the title I thought you got into a wreck. Much better outcome that I expected coming in. Good kill

Good kill. It seems the 350z/370z/g35/g37 crowd often overestimates their capabilities

Sadly they don't think about the lack of torque that engine puts out.

You must have been spinning pretty bad 60-120/130 only 2 cars. I raced a 370z same motor as the G37 and i was mostly stock at the time and it was far more then 2 cars. Get some better tires! If your spinning at 60 with stock power you need better tires! But anyway good kill and yes they seem to think they are a lot faster then they really are.

i remember shifting into 4th but it was nowhere near 130 though, hard to tell if it was the middle of 4th because i was just paying attention to the road lol... I got shut down by traffic at the time i pulled about 2 cars, enough for him to realize that he bit off more than he could chew

But i do remember, i had no problem pulling away from the start even with me spinning...

yea that sounds better must have been barely into forth so you basically pulled 2 cars in just third gear. 3rd and forth are always the gears that really pull on people in my car.

CAI's are pretty noticeable on the g35/37's compared to stock. But yeah good kill! You shouldn't have any problems with them at all lol.

Not only that, but most of that crowd doesn't street race. The new VQ37 motor is rated at 300bhp from the factory, making it only about 255whp. With forced inductioin they can make anywhere from low to mid 400whp on stock internals. With full bolt ons they'll only make about 330whp, and that's being generous.

I bought my 07 g35x for the luxury. It's a quick little car but I'm not gonna try and beat any vettes in it. That's what my WS6 is for.

My friend has a G37 with intake and exhaust and i have no issues pulling on him easily. Must have been your tires or else even for a short race like that you should've pulled more. Its street racing, good kill OP.

Here is a vid of me, your Z06 is faster so with better tires you can only imagine how much better you'll do.

They are actually rated at 330hp. They are a good driving car. Carving on back roads is really fun even though it weighs so much. The most I could muster on the dyno with full bolt ons was 310whp with a dyno rune using a Cobb ap and their tuning software. Otherwise you are limited unless you go fi.

I do think they are sexy cars though, and I love the interiors. Just being in a college town they are either driven by girls or douche frat guys who think they're really fast.

Oh you're right, I was thinking of the 350Z High Rev edition, which is rated at 298bhp. And yeah, 310 wheel with those mods sounds about right.

He was probably supercharged to stay that close, especially if you got into 4th. haha. No way a semi-stock g37 would hang at all through 3rd gear in your car, even if you grannyshifted. I actually ran a blown g35 and had a similar outcome with my 385rwhp z06 to your encounter.

Nice kill. 58mph in 2nd gear - what the heck were you turning like 6K rpms?! That 2nd gear doesn't last very long.
