This will be the issue. It is going to be a tire frier. Until some one slaps some slicks on it.

What tires does the gt500 come on? Aren't they like a shitty 275 tire? Im guessing the camaro will win a drag race bone stock if it is 3800 lbs or 4000lbs just because it has such wider/stickier tires on it. Can't say tell it comes out though..

Street Tires and high 400's at the tires generally don't mix too well

A stickier 305 is still a much better mix than a 275

It comes with Goodyear Eagle F1's Supercar's 285's. And I think both will come down to what driver don't spin in a drag race. The GT500 will be announced soon now since Ford knows what GM has. Just like they did with the SS/5.0. The GT500 will still be lighter and make more power in the end. 2013 will be the new GT500.

Tire make and model Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar G: 2
Tire type Summer front - summer rear
Tire size, front P265/40 ZR19 98Y
Tire size, rear P285/35 ZR20 92Y
Wheel size, front 19-by-9.5 inches
Wheel size, rear 20-by-9.5 inches
Wheel material Forged aluminum

i think it will be a driver's race with an advantage to the gt500. i hope i'm wrong though. at least they seem to be getting back into the spirit of things with bigger/faster/lighter supposedly. i hope one day these cars will be the old muscle to restore.

I like the fact that it has an auto. I don't know much about the new Ford auto trannys, but I bet they don't have one that could handle the power and still fit.

I'm sure they could make one that could. I mean their current auto in the GT's we've established holds up to abuse more than their clunky Getrag *stirs pot*

I am surprised Ford hasn't offered the GT500 with an auto. The only thing I'd see from that is a sales jump. Seems logical to me as any corporation likes money and expanded market share. The ZL1 will likely take some market share away from potential GT500 buyers who want an auto option

The GT500 is the new Cobra, and they have never been automatic. I said in another thread, there aster plenty of cars and/or models that have been manual-only over the years.

You can't out run ugly... I'm sorry but I still think they are absolutely ugly as hell on the inside and the outside isn't much better either. It weighs 4,200 lbs!!! What a pig! I would love to have the engine out of it but thats it. It will be a good drivers race for a year at least since the gt500 will be making more power next go around (supposed to have 600 with a new tvs based blower)

Haha that's because ford's have shitty transmissions, could you imagine an auto in there? It would be destroyed everytime you hit the throttle lol

The new Mustang automatics seem to be holding up quite nicely.

I don't think it will be anywhere near 4200lbs, unless we are talking full of fuel with a driver.

First off that's your opinion. I think they look great. I even like the ss. I just don't like how much it weighs... Secondly it weighing 4200lbs is not a fact. I bet you $20 paypal it will weigh atleast 100 lbs less than that.

Speaking of which, why is the 6-speed manual in the new GT rated at less torque than the engine makes?

Actually the GT500 is not the NEW Cobra...Nowhere on the window sticker does it say cobra. It is listed only as Shelby GT500. Also when you ask guys that have one they don't say Cobra they say GT500. It is not a Cobra.

The new Gt has a Getrag auto also. But it so far has handled people pushing 800whp threw it and multiple cars running 8-10's with no issues. It will handle the abuse of the GT500 with ease. But doubt ford will offer a auto in the GT500. But they might since GM is.

With that I wish I would have bought a F'ing auto.

It's the new Cobra, it's just called something different. You know what I'm talking about
