GTP vs bolt on LS1 SS
#61
id like to know mods on OPs gtp. i have a xp cammed gtp (xp cam 3.2 pully headers tuned) and raced a buddys 99 ss his car was a m6 ls1 with ls6 intake, headers and tuned we raced many times for fun and every time he would pull me by about 3-4 cars. unless OPs car is a high comp bottom end car with a gen v and inter cooler running a tiny pulley i blame driver of the ls car haha. at best a gtp with stock heads and compression is only good for about 340-360 whp

lol idiot. do you realize that youre claiming to have put 6 cars on a mid-low 12 second ls1 FROM A 40 ROLL (absolute worst spot for your car) with your heavier, sub 300whp/2.93 geared v6 that falls flat on its face after 1st gear? you cant be that naive lol. or can you? if you think that your ''driving skills'' would have anything to do with this race then you need psychiatric help.

lol haters gonna gate. Say what you want, but none of you were there. It happened, some of you are just blind and don't want to believe the truth that sits in front of you. The S/C 3800 is a bullit proof wonder, beast of a machine.
Maybe he was a bad driver, but a win is still a win. And if I had a video of this race, believe me I would have posted it. A video of me putting trains on an LS1 would have been so much better. The results would have been the same though I'm afarind. You guys would still get butthurt about it, and hate on my car.

My Regal had the same mods as the OP's GTP except I had the GenV blower, maf and TB. I made 291whp SAE and ran high 12s @ 107-108... It was enough to beat a stock auto LS1, but from a roll my friends 6spd LS1s would take me.
I think whoever the OP raced couldn't drive very well.

I still would like clarification of the connection of Wal Mart, and the OP totalling his SRT4. I guess it makes sense, given the parties involved?
I better start watching out for them bolt on GTPs.

because they come stock without an intercooler..once you fix that they are good.. you have to worry about knock with any boosted engine though.. the gtp's main downfall is the tranny.

And I'm sure its not super expensive, but all around its not exactly the best platform to be modding to huge lvls. I have no doubt a correctly modded bolt on would aggravate a lot of people, but its the world of "fast" it is not lol

This guy almost makes me not want to drive my gtp anymore. This is exactly why they get a bad rep. My T/A will stomp a mud whole in my gtp's *** and then come back and bitch slap it for even trying to compare. Don't get me wrong I like my gtp as a dd, and it's a snappy car, but it in no way shape or form compares to the ls1.
I honestly want to know how he kept pulling after 2nd gear, share this secret with the rest of us gtp owners please.

^ Nice looking TA. Don't let someone that totals their SRT-4 in a Wal Mart parking lot influence your daily driver decision in any way. GTPs are nice cars.
