Default Stock 00 Z28 vs Stock '13 STi vs G8 GT

My Regal popped a brake line on Saturday so I took my gf's car to the Wednesday dinner meet. She has a paper filter stock 2000 Z28 6 speed vert with clogged up cats. She's also a bad camera person as are most women! lol

First run caught me off guard, used to shifting at 6500 in my Trans Am... Stock redline comes up fast when you hit it at 40 in 1st.

Anyway, the STi is also bone stock and a 360 whp Pat G tuned Intake/Headers G8 jumps in the last two runs. I just rolled out on the dig off idle, STi did his first "launch" ever.

That STi is weak lol. Few mods should wake it up though.

Good kill in the Stock Z!

dont think it mattered that the G8 jumped or not. It still pulled the doors off that stock Z, and would do so on a dead even hit!

But good runs none the less!!

NICE RUNS!

not surprised by the STi race results. I raced an older one (looked like an 05ish, had exhaust work) from a dig yesterday and after he jumped out hard I walked by him pretty good. Had atleast 2 cars on him when I shut down at about 80mph. (I had to launch very soft considering my bald 245's)

I need a tripod mount for my phone on the dash for encounters like these...

I expected a monster AWD launch from the STI.
Good race nonetheless

Good runs... seemed like the STi guy missed a gear in the dig run but didn't really have chance...lol. Run him again when he is stage II and post the results. That G8 moves!
Good kill!

Nill kill OP! A bone stock, heavier 'vert z28 WITH a passenger putting the hurting on that STi made me almost spit coffee all over my dash this morning before I walked into work.

What is this "stage II" that you speak of?

I have a tune, downpipe and factory muffler replacement. Am I stage 3 now?

If I throw a few dead hookers in my trunk, does that mean I'm now stage 6, assuming each hooker is worth one stage upgrade?

Dude... That just screams performance. STAGE VI Cobalt.

I would hope so against a fully stock paper filter z28. The G8 looked like he didn't know how to line up and wait for the honks.

STi needs to practice his launch a bit. He should have done better on the dig then what he did.

I am also curious. I know they can be built quick for cheap/up the boost. But what does it take and how much loot $ ?

Thanks guys, yeah the G8 moves out now, it was a complete turd when it was stock, the Pat G tune woke it up considerably!

STi wants a rematch once he goes "Stage 2" or whatever, I'll have to get permission from my girlfriend to engage in such activity again! Or just drag him down the highway with my Buick. =D

This is my view on the whole "stages" thing....

Stage 1-tune
Stage 2-bolt-ons + tune
Stage 3- bigger turbo, or cams?
Stage 4-Anything and everything you can upgrade to make as much power as you can.

Behind angle of the first race. Stock 05 Legacy GT in the right lane, he missed a gear I guess.

I'm still ashamed I sat on the limiter, I'm not used to such a quiet car!! lol

Please, I bought it for her, she can say what she wants but she wouldn't be driving it if it wasn't for me!
