i disagree. i think you're confusing what the cars ARE doing with what they SHOULD be doing. even the cars around here, racing at 1500'+ da are capable of producing decent times. i've seen a few cam only stick cars, full weight, going 117+...and this is in pretty bad da mind you. i watched a 224 cam m6 car go 115 in a full weight ss with real zr1s on it. i also watched a bolt on car on the same zr1s go 114. car had bumper supports, spare/jack, front swaybar, and backseat removed. it went 107 with a lid and flowmaster 80 series.
regardless of what they are doing...we all know what they should be doing. i've been dealing with these f cars since day one. there is a reason they're slow, finding it is the trouble. i don't think there are any real factory freaks, it's just knowing how to make them go.

For example, a C6 Z06 traps low 120's on average with 440whp @ 3100 pounds. Now compare that to the OP's F-body with 427whp @ roughly 3500 pounds. Sure its not apple's to apple's but just giving you an idea to work with. Could the car trap 120 in the right conditions, yessss, but I wouldn't be disappointed if it didn't - not with that combo I wouldn't.

to give referrance to this auto/stick car arguement. My GTO trapped 120 with a 4000 converter/3.46 gear. On the highway however, it will pull STICK cars that had trapped up to 125 at the track.

Forget It Evan don't waist your time. I see where he's coming from comparing the vette and the f-body but to attempt it is obsurd. Way too many variables.

Curious tho, if its so easy, I would love to know how many 224 cam/5.3 head FULL WEIGHT N/A cars on this very site trap north of 120?????????? Should be a whole crap load.
Won't hold my breath for that one.

my only point was to say you cant compare the trap speed of an auto to that of a stick and assume because the stick car has more mph, its going to win on the roll. Thats not always the case. In my experience, if a big converter auto traps what a stick car traps....on the roll, its ugly for the stick car. Another example is this:
128mph 403ci f body: 60-130 in 9.1 seconds
My 120mph GTO :60-130 in 9.4 seconds
At the track, 8mph difference... on the roll... he put a car and half on me from 50-150.
Adding some gear will help him get mph in a very loose converter due to it will put the converter in a more efficient spot at the end of the track. My GTO sat on the converter from 95-125mph where it wasnt gaining any rpm. If i put 3.90/4.10 gears in it, the mph would have leaped up substantially because the converter would be tightening back up on the high end of the track. ET wouldnt have dropped very much, but mph would have gone up.

This guy 04blackgmc told me when samsel450r went from a t56 to a stalled auto the car lost no MPH, just picked up ET. Another car from them that traps high as **** is that black H/C/I LS3, it traps 130mph and its an auto.... Autos don't always trap less than stick cars

My converter did launch my car hard at the same time made it faster on the highway then my previous tighter converter. The ONLY reason it lost mph at the track over a stick car is due to when a properly geared stick car is crossing the traps, its steaming pretty hard through the top of its powerband in fourth gear. Where as mine was a stock geared and sitting on the converter floating through the traps. Literally the car hadnt started to rev yet as i crossed. Came back into third gear at 6000rpm...crossed the traps at 6100. Had it been geared with a 4.10... it would have locked up and crossed at 7100rpm pulling hard.

I don't think you understand where Evan was coming from with that comment. lol And please forgive me, I was trying to give you an example of HP/weight.

OP's times/traps are on par for the mods.
Here's a good reference to what a 224 cam car should run. 120+ traps are far and few between.
