People should stop trying to drag race them then. We know what the outcome is going to be already. They will lose and then the gm nutswingers will chime in about how much more awesomer they are at turning into a parking spot or something.

All the ZL1 needs is an LS9 blower to be a decent fast car. This ZR1 is door to door with high 130 mph cars. Thats fast as ****. Given this ZL1 has a cam which they didn't list in the video but oh well.

I know that my rig is slow, but at least I don't post videos of them losing and say, "yeah it's too bad that the SRT8 lost, but it wasn't meant to be a drag car and it is really heavy and blah blah blah."

I'm not trying to say that ZL1's don't have the potential to be impressive with some aftermarket work, but they are not impressive at the 1/4 mile track in stock form. I'm just sick of seeing everyone make excuses that the car wasn't meant to be a drag car. So what if the ZL1 turns better? That isn't what this section is designed around.

I know theyre CAPABLE of 128mph traps but to say it will without doubt trap no less, especially on your first trip to the track with the car is a bit of a stretch imo. Good luck tho hitting your expectations.

I agree Camper. You can add some bolt ons to an 5th GEN SS and most likely keep up or beat the ZL1. Or add a procharger...turbo to the SS and totally *** rape the ZL1 for $20K less. Just saying, but I'm not too impressed with these ZL1's either. Especially after how much the owners spend on 'em.

That's a pretty broad statement. Depends on how you want to run. ZL1 pretty much hands the GT500 it's *** everywhere accept acceleration. This is why I cannot understand all the haters on it....******* awesome car IMO. Much more impressive package than a one trick pony.

Obviously you don't remember the thread a while back where people were talking about how imports just say that they are stage 1, 2 or 3 when they are explaining their mods and no one really knows what each stage means. The ZL1 is getting drug around road courses by the GT500 in the hands of private owners...put the magazines away.

The ZL1 is the fatser car. A little extra in TX for the ZL1. SRT8 will run you 47-52K at most dealers in TX. You can snag a ZL1 for 55-68 depnding what options get. Hell Her ein GA they wanted 49k for a SRT8 Chally and 59k for a optioned ZL1. 63K for a convertible.
The ZL1 hands better, and has ran into the high 11's bone stock. No Chally has done that stock. Don't kid your self. The SRT8 and the 5.0 are a great drivers race. I have seen the SRT8 chally claim 12.2 stock but then heard it had DR's. And the 5.0 has went 12.2 for manual and 12.3 for auto bone stock. And recently 12.07 with just DR's.
And they compared the ZR1 and the new Viper. It wasn't great for the viper.

The 392 and ZL1 are VERY close in a STRAIGHT LINE. You know what THIS SECTION is all about. Why even bring up road course **** with the ZL1 & ZR1 in THIS SECTION. I could give two ***** less about a road course.
How many BONE STOCK ZL1's have gone 11's? 1? 2? maaaaybe 3? (doubtful)
There have been more 392's running VERY low 12's bone stock than ZL0's running 11.9's. Yes i agree the ZL1 is the faster car by a very very slim margin. Which is why its a TURD. The car weighs the same and AT BEST et's 2/10's better and 2-3mph more with 110 MORE hp. That sir is pathetic.
Line both of them up at the drag strip and its a drivers race all day. Run them for a mile and yes im sure the ZL1 would get the win almost every time.
Line up a Auto 392 vs a M6 ZL1 and watch that 392 do work. PATHETIC.
Yes the ZR1 lapped quicker than the Viper (again who gives a ****). Down the 1/4 they were damn near identicle. Common sense whould have told you that being that both cars weigh nearly the same, make nearly the same hp, and both have 6 speeds not some fancy DCT with AWD.
All the testers said it lapped better purely because of better tires. Even the SRT engineers said they were caught off gaurd by how great those tires were on the ZR1...
