Its a good platform straight out of the box. Being I can't afford either the Z28 or ZL1, I'll just have to settle with both these seeing my tail lights.

The GT500 will still take it in a straight line but not on the road course. Ford needs to put the 6.2 Raptor engine in the Mustang and make it 500+n/a hp. The iron block would add weight though. They need cubes to go with the technology.

WTF? where did the added weight come from?
This too boggles my mind. But nonetheless, This Z/28 will be a serious contender for the 5.0s in any arena. We're back in the fight!

When will you guys understand that Ford does not use cubic inch to compete. Especially now that they use TIVCT.

Ahh gotcha. As long as you know to stay away from the internally modded ones until you get a power adder you'll be okay.

In that case the Z28 should be around 3800lbs like SticksnStones said considering the Z28 iwill come only with a 6M trans. Still think it should be a good bit lighter tho.

TIVCT or not the LS7 is superior to the 5.0. Period.

Atleast the z28 doesn't have a china trans LOL.

Rhino went 124 with his cam only LS3 i can imagine what a cam only LS7 in a weight reducted chassis would do. Would be out of the 5.0s reach mod for mod, weight for weight.

I fully understand they don't but they should. In my opinion, they should have put the 351 in them back in the day and now they should combine tivct with as many cubic inches as they can. The best of both worlds.

reduced*

And no kidding lol. But the fifth gen will never get down to the weight of a mustang. Not without ruining it that is. And as far as touching the internals of a motor is concerned... its no longer Ford VS Chevy at that point. Its you VS the world.

Yeah lol i forgot what rhino got his down to, at 3800 i can see like 3400 ***** out. Who knows alot of people think at 3k 2900 you have to be gutted and idk hios apparently there. Depends whos hands its in. Maybe with the right carbon fiber parts and $ it can get down to like 3200ish? Which would be ridiculous. But i personally love how rev happy the boss is, can't beat the sound of your car. It sounds sick when your winding out the gears. No homo.

You guys that are confused about the additional weight need to remember that this is a new rendition to the 5th Gen. Maybe the extra weight came from some of the changes they made?

i was hoping gm was going to do it old school style and make the z28 with a smaller destroked engine. ls7 is a badass engine but now the zl1 has a smaller engine than a z28. kinda backwards. at

Not really. Look at the ZR1 and Z06. One has the supercharged 6.2L while the other has a N/A 7.0L V8. Its the same scenario really.
