A 2.73 gear is a huge disadvantage, and I mean huge. Car would pick up .5 sec + in the 1/4 from a simple gear swap. Not trying to take your pride of this race away, but just saying.
Not sure if this was said, but is it going to be from a dig or roll? jw'n.
Also,
I'm still not getting why the car is shifting at 6500, stock ls1 cam, not adding up. Even a stock 5.0 would be a hard race with 2.73 gears. Please get the full details with this guy so we don't have another 200 page thread man lol

He's a GN guy and has a pretty sick one. Also owns his own performance shop and like me this is the slowest car he has owned. He knows his ****

It's a Z28 and it does have some steep *** gears. First goes to 60 or higher lol but thing it is never stops pulling. I told him I'm definitely expecting him to come around hard up top. We are buddies and I'm just trying something new on h before we go out street racing against quite a few people we don't know tomorrow night.

So it does have a 2.73 gear? I'm confused the way you worded it lol If its a SS/WS6 it'll have 3.23s.

Yeah 2.73 going to 6500rpm is 60mph in first... I thought me hitting 55mph was stupid. I'm not sure running the stock cam that high is going to help him at all though...my power peaked by 5300rpm and was on it's way down.

I got in a debate with someone a few years back about this matter. I always thought LS1s still had reasonable power left to turn past 6k, and still do.
Its why I had my rev limiter bumped up. But after talking to some people in the past I'm back to shifting at 6kish.
I should not have used "pointless" for shifting past 6k, However I do think its pointless shifting to 6500 with a stock LS1 cam. 6200 I can see because I was doing it and it felt alright, I think 6500 is pushing it.
Its why I had my rev limiter bumped up. But after talking to some people in the past I'm back to shifting at 6kish.

Yeah 5500 is LT1 redline territory. 6200 is spot on where my shift light was set at, I bumped it down to 6k because I drank some of that "5500 kool aid" lol But I can still go to 6200 if I'm feeling saucy.

lmaoo yeah i know alot of guys like that. I literally shift my car by sound, hardly ever look at the tach. Sounds soo rice but idk it works everytime

I still think this 2.73 bolt on stalled auto car really needs a proper gear (3.42) to match the power its making. But we'll see, I think Stoppy is being modest right now about this LS1. lol
