Could be a vacuum leak…
Could be any number of poor choices in the ignition system…
Could be improper valve adjustment…
Oh there's a hole list of issues that could cause a car to run short. Except of course for the Terminators with Forced Induction on the juice.

I come from a GM background and know plenty, I know the LT1 is a platform that people like Taner, Tony Sheppard, Mike V have all made an impression in, But you defending this car is just beyond me.
He just said his heads flow over 300 cfm which really don't mean **** because flow numbers vs port velocity is such a widely discussed and argued subject, There is a reason people convert over SBC stuff to the LT1 because the aftermarket companies seen there is no market, and better things out there that people are more likely to use. and BBC and SBC have been around for how long? I'd sure hope they would out perform a platform thats been out for 1/4 of its time.....

While CFM is not the only factor of a heads performance, even if the porter claims 300 that is barely over what a maxed out ported stocker flows. AI's 200cc package flows 290cfm on a stock 20 year old LT1 head.
Without knowing the finished CC's of the heads, we have no idea whether is is a fast 300cfm port with strong low end, or a lazy hogged out 300cfm port with no velocity.

Do you know what depression the heads were flowed at? The material the fixture was made out of? The length of the pipe used? If it was flowed with an intake plate? I don't, and ALL of those things can dramatically change a heads flow bench numbers.

Still without knowing any info on how the heads were flowed, just an end number passed down from 2 people, we have no idea what the heads are capable of.
I can strap them to my machine shops bench and they may only flow 280 at standard test settings - we don't know. Smaller shops do some shady **** to sell parts, and the 195s are a small casting to start with and there is not much meat to get into the big flow numbers and intake volume without messing up the geometry of the head at the expense of a number.
I saw a project on YB where a guy cut, welded, and massacred an SBC port to flow something ridiculous like 450CFM. He admitted that it was just an experiment and practice, and in reality bolting that head to a car would be laughable - terrible port velocity so low end power and torque would be non-existent. Bit of an extreme case, but I digress...
Tired of arguing for now, I'll check back on this train wreck of a thread tonight LOL.

But for the sake of argument, if it doesn't... I'll just sweep it onto the back of the tow truck and build something else.
Anyone know if anyone else has taken a 408 to mid 7s in the 1/8th? 'Cause I think I'm just the guy to get that done.

"It is, what it is."
Now Sprout, I want ya to study that… consider the intrinsic implications and the finality inherent in it's infinite, eternal assessment.
At the end of the day, there's the stage and the trap… each axiomatically tethered to the objectivity of the infernal clock. That which separates the winner from the loser. Each relevant only to one moment in time… passing without notice by most, standing over all else only to those who get there.

Oh Good guess…
See! With practice ya DO get better.
What's your point? No Video, it didn't happen? Which would be a CLASSIC example of ad ignorantiam. the fatally flawed construct which appeals to the ignorance born in the absence of tangible evidence…
Yessir, the Air Force really stretches out there for the highest caliber intellects.
Of course, you could deny the inherently implied conclusion, which, and let's be honest, such holds a ton of promise in terms of first rate potential for entertainment. SO… If it matters, THAT would be my desire.
But, it's your choice…

My guess is they will and when it's all said and done, the odd-ball, mixed bag will be enough to show up first down where it counts.
I'll just tell ya that all of my life, getting there first, in the fastest time possible has been my gift and stands front and center in my wheel house.
But you don't have to believe me… You can call home and ask my wife!
