WRX ain't $20k. I can get a well-equipped Mustang for $19,600,and the Focus or the Civic for about a grand more.

Edit: One of the Mustangs. Has the 102A package (foglights, HIDs, blah blah) and the FP6 appearance package (quarter window slats, black 18s).

That same dealership has the FST with the options I want.

Get a used 09-12 IS350. My 09' ran 8.40's in the 1/8th mile. Spanked quite a few 3v Mustang GT's.

Gonna buy new, otherwise I'd get a 335i.

335i not a reliable used car...especially out of warranty. IS350 and 335i are comparable speed wise with edge going to IS350 up to 100mph.

Yeah, 335i no question if I was gonna buy used. Or an older 330i. But new, right now the Focus ST is in the lead.

Now on road "feel" and handling... 335 no doubt. But they are definitely not a reliable car past 60k

stock 335i's trap in the low 100's whereas stock is350's trap mid 90's. Add a tune and the is350 falls back into a different zip code

Didn't feel like reading the whole damn thread tonight so forgive me. From what ive sewn the gt500 can outrun the zl1 on a road course but after a lap or so it starts to fall off. The video report I saw was at laguna seca. The gt500 ran about 1-2 seconds faster on its first lap bu t the longer they went the more it fell off. Ended up like 5 seconds back. I think they said it started to heat sink and the brakes started fading. Basically they said the gt500 would go faster around the course, once.

Either way I like both cars.

You're way off with the LS match up dude.

Here is the math if the ZL1 ran it's best lap every lap in the 3 laps (which it didn't).

GT500:
Lap 1 - 1:38:69
Lap 2 - 1:39:03
Lap 3 - 1:39:30
Total= 4:57.02

ZL1:
Lap 1 - 1:39:18
Lap 2 - 1:39:18
Lap 3 - 1:39:18
Total= 4:57.54

0.52 seconds difference (at worst) with the win going to the GT500.

Who ever sent that GT500 to MT with the fucked up brakes should have been fired.

Stock IS350s are a 103-105mph car

Edit: I trapped almost 85mph in the 1/8th in mine

But I will say the 335 will take off from the IS350 after mods. You can't tune the IS cars.. so you are limited to filter, intake pipe, and exhaust... nothing more. Some guys have tried supercharging, but are limited to about 6psi because of tuning limitations.

BTW, mine had Joe Z Intake, F Sport filter, and Joe Z exhaust.

Here is the dynosheet for it.. bone stock rwhp and after mods hp. Car gained a good bit of mid range power under the curve after the mods:

Please don't post proof of the GT500 being superior to the ZLnone. It ruffles feathers!

Bro, the fire from the brakes creates a hot air-balloon effect which helps lift the Mustang off the ground for less road friction. Ford technology.
