I had to rebuild both my two axle shafts to get rid of all the cheap Chinese parts. Two of the c clips are a real bitch to get out so it took me way longer than expected. I finished up getting it back together about the same time the strip closed.
I did take it out for some road testing (flogging) and so far so good. It is running and driving good. Now that it is fixed I can start working on fine-tuning it. I have posted some videos on my youtube channel: TheVerge66
Ironically enough, last year...or early this year, can't remember, I drove a 2004 Grand Am GT from Florida to Minnesota for a girl. It dropped a valve or two by Gainesville. Yes, she was cute...
The heads are 1970 D0OE 351W heads which, unported are the best flowing Windsor SBF heads up until the GT40s came out. They are virgin right now. I have done several porting projects with good success. I study others' work (like T Moss) and learn what to do and what not to do with a specific head. Porting the exhaust port (shown in cross section image) makes a huge difference. The rest is just some minor work such as 1.25" depth of port matching and smoothing the inner radius at the transition from bowl to valve.
I'm going with a mild cam so I might put bigger valves in them. Haven't decided yet.
IMO those are decent stock heads BUT, ported flow numbers of hipo 289 heads are similar. the big advantage of the hipo is the compression ratio with flat tops.

I agree. The guy had some of the 289 hipos too. It was a tough call.

Nope, on the street with a 275 street tire. 305 HO, headers, true duals, aussie 9 bolt... 20+ clutch dumps in one day, snapped a countershaft!

They all need work. The ls1 t56 needs the least. 3rd gear sycro would fix it. It was warrantied to my car.
