*Place your bets* GT350 vs stock 6th gen
#261
If they can get it to 470 or so I'll be worried. They were happy with just coming close to the ls3 last gen and still makes the same hp as an npp ls3 vette. They also have a cheaper price point to wrangle with. Ford would not be wise to raise the price to camaro levels looking at the sales between them.
Think they can do that with 5.0 while still meeting regulations and mpg etc? Aren't some thinking a 5.2 cross plane? That be cool
I wonder what GM has in store for the new vette ? Will likely put the updated GT right back in its place when it goes into the camaro.
My guess is one year running very similar to the 6g then right back to where it belongs

That would be cool. I agree though that the 5.0 needs more than the a10 and 15hp though to cover the .4-.6 from the factory. Then again I'd be interested to see what a 8l90 could do alone in a s550. If a10 has a good converter like the 8l80, should be a nice gain for the s550 over the anemic stock 6r80 converter.

I'd venture to say even if ford added the a10 , bumped the hp to 450 and gm kept the camaro exactly the same it would still be faster.
im really not sure what ford can do. Especially if gm adds any more power. Just as it sits currently they have to make the GT as fast as the 350 to even catch the SS. And it has 526 hp.
Maybe ford will need to go back to pushrods ?

It's due for one. It's been out 3 yrs now so it wouldn't surprise me. It's a very mild engine too.

Still nothing funny about it. That engine would be more complicated too.
Local furd guy said nothing about a after market balancer. Not sure which years it affected. But there seems to several other furd engines with engineering failures. How bout that 99 cobro when then couldn't even make the power they claimed.
I don't see them bumping the 5br0 much. Look at the 5.2 it can barely keep pace and they threw the kitchen sink at it.
Wish in one hand and **** in the other.....i bet you'll have more **** than hp gain.

Not really....it takes the r. You know the one with 2 seats like a vette.
It seems odd to me there hasn't been more tests on the gt350. Most tracks it's been on has been obscure tracks with out much testing on. Hell the one track was considered a motorcycle track. The only test vs the z28 the z28 had ragged tires on.
Overall a great showing for a 10yr old engine snd chassis vs furds latest greatest.
How does a restrictive intake and small cam get iffset by a tune?
Please explain.....if no logical explanation then I'm sure your post will be one I of if not the dumbest post in history.
Besides all of nates ofcourse.

I would assume it's pretty hard to get good instrumented tests with the GT350 and the fact that most mags just want to do the R, which would be even harder to get their hands on. The cars just aren't that available. Hell, I had to drive 5 hrs to not get gouged 10k over by all the greedy dealers near me.
GT350R should be faster on the track and it is. Still $15k cheaper than the Z28 was. Considering it ran over a second faster at Chuckwalla, that's a big gap for a sub 2 minute track...

GT350 is faster in a straight line. I mean I just assume that's what we are talking about since this is srk and all.

How does the gt350 stack up against the last year gt500?
I would have thought that they would have kept up with the whole blower theme with the high end mustangs. It seemed to work pretty well.... not saying that 5.2 isn't one hell of a nice N/A motor, very impressive numbers.
I just think all the Cobro's and gt100's, we're pretty cool, and got pretty good gains with simple mods.
