I'm trying to talk the wifey into getting rid of the ZL1. I found a new Hellcat close to my price range. I had to explain to her that if I don't do it that the mod list for the Z must go into action. I'm pretty sure I can mod the Z and make more power for less but I'm still having issues getting past it being a Chevy. The electrical issues have already begun...

5Gs pretty notorious for those? A buddy with a 2015 had a radio screen die twice and has some trim coming off on his door panel.

Mine keeps telling me I have random flat tires and sometimes when I change radio stations, the station will change but the display doesn't...

Definitely true. I have experienced this in my own personal car vs another 5th gen that had BETTER have been stock because he still lost. What personal races in an S550 vs 5th gen have you had? Oh... wait.....

Sure your springs helped....it got the car down outta the air a little. Probably helped mph a touch

Your lock out arms probably help to. You have more mods

About the only place a s550 csn keep up with s 5gen us in a straight line.......and i think we have the fix for that

Personal experience, same scale, my friends fully loaded track pack manual S550 Weighed 3720.

My cousin's '15 2SS 1LE weighted 3850.

For reference, my 6G 1SS A8 was 3670 with alil over half tank.

I've raced both cars in the 6G, judging from about how much i beat both they'd of been a good race. S550 has since done a JLT Intake, headers and borla catback.

S550 handles better than you think. As far as your fix... of course... throw a bunch of mods at anything and it will get faster. But my statement stands.... mod for mod, the 5th gen will not compete with the 5.0.

If i were to have Long tube headers, no cats, PMAS cold air setup, ported intake similar to what Phil has, you honestly think it would be a close race? Sure, his car runs good. As it is with the 1.85 rockers, long tubes, no cats, z28 intake, ported intake, and most likely ported tb, it should be a good race with my tune/catback S550.

I still stand on my position that mod vs mod, 5.0 > 5th gen. The advantage the 5th gen will have is with a cam/heads na setup. Too expensive to mess with on a DOHC motor. Its much cheaper in the long run for 5.0s to go FI because that's where they excel. Tell your buddy to get rid of the JLT Hot Air intake. I have run all my ETs with stock airbox.
