In a stock versus stock race, 5.0 will win.... unless driver error... everytime.
S550 handles better than you think. As far as your fix... of course... throw a bunch of mods at anything and it will get faster. But my statement stands.... mod for mod, the 5th gen will not compete with the 5.0.
If i were to have Long tube headers, no cats, PMAS cold air setup, ported intake similar to what Phil has, you honestly think it would be a close race? Sure, his car runs good. As it is with the 1.85 rockers, long tubes, no cats, z28 intake, ported intake, and most likely ported tb, it should be a good race with my tune/catback S550.

As it is right now with you in your best form you're getting outran.......you know your intake/tune/e85/cam adjustment /suspension mods/ cat back/weight reduction vs a car with stock mufflered exhaust

I still stand on my position that mod vs mod, 5.0 > 5th gen. The advantage the 5th gen will have is with a cam/heads na setup. Too expensive to mess with on a DOHC motor. Its much cheaper in the long run for 5.0s to go FI because that's where they excel. Tell your buddy to get rid of the JLT Hot Air intake. I have run all my ETs with stock airbox.
Also remembered, Raced S550 in my boys H/C stall G8 and it wasn't pretty for S550.
Also raced same G8 in my cousins 1LE, was a dead even race and I'd pull in 4th. Never got to run them stock.

I already talked to him. It picked up alittle but probably mostly tune. He wants to go D1SC, I keep telling him VMP.

Ok.. so 10-13rwhp... That is the range I have been talking about all along. Its not THAT big of a difference. tenth of a second in the 1/4? I mean really man... Not a huge gain.
