So tell me something guys. If I spend money to upgrade I want an upgrade. Power shifting this LS7 tore up my 3rd gear twice, albeit the others are fine I would like something smoother and easier to shift at WOT. I also want something that can handle the heat for road racing. I'll probably buy a clutch when I build my trans. My LS6 clutch let go at 6800 despite being pretty new. Didn't handle rpm, needless to say o was just relived this LS7 unit held lol
At high rpm it shifts flawlessly. My ls7 clutch also ate up my 3rd. And made the car slower.

It depends on how you use the car. I love my spec mini twin. Great for weekend warrior, strip car, road race, etc. I wouldn't recommend it for a daily because it's just plain small and will burn out quicker. But they are rebuildable and fairly cheap.

Now i like qtr master stuff alot. My whole set up is qtr master except the cage is tilton. I've put over 40k miles on it......mostly with used discs from our race car when i worked on the race team. Last time i bought a set of discs and plates was several years ago. It only costs about $400 to renew a clutch like this.
Mine is very streetable.....probably more so than hammers because my master is smaller than his.

Yea i guess so. Gm fixed my trans and several of my buddies under warranty. Ever hear of empty82??...lol. From my results and hammers light clutches. ....well real clutches shift better especially at high rpm.
One thing for sure if gm was to worried about it they would not have put the notoriously weak ls1 clutch in fcars and there are 2 people in this thread that said a heavy *** ls7 clutch helped them wipe out syncros. Now with that saud the ls7 stuff is heavier than the oe fcar clutch......so yea weight seens to for sure have something to do with it.

They went to triple cone syncros for a reason....
I did away with my syncro and to shift it the way i do the heavy clutches would likely tear mine up the way it is now.
As far as choosing which syncros it damages yes it would be indiscriminate. .....other than some syncros get abused more than others. Not many power shift 5/6 and you can't do 1st. So that only leaves 2/3/4.....which does seem to get tore up.
There is no reason at all for gm clutches to be as heavy as they are.

Again. ....no one has a problem wuth 1/2 the cylinders and 1/2 the clutch weight with drivability of a honda. No one complains about the drivability of a 40lb ford clutch.
I noticed no significant change in nvh in my car with a light clutch. I did notice and appreciated improved throttle response

1/2 the cylinders.....1/2 the clutch weight = Stock Gm Clutch weight.....
Also, Again... Comparing a Honda Cvic to an Fbody is like comparing Apples to chicken nuggets. Completely different vehicle weights, not to mention totally different gearing.

I guess you ignored the v8 mustang comparison. ....maybe you should read and then try to comprehend a bit more. We're not talking about people that want to keep perfectly stock cars here. Lets face it about any thing you do to modify a car can reduce streetability is someones eyes.
I can understand your point on gearing but anyone looking for more performance probably has more gear in mind. Most of gm stick cars are under geared.
There is no reason to have gm clutches weigh what they do.
You and i have had this conversation before.
