so folks.....we all argue amongst ourselves while 130,000 dollar tesla plaids rake up wins and legendary status.
i havent turned a wrench on the turbo since i fixed the tubing flanging issues. i drive it, but it still has the stock 4r70w and can only take boost in 2nd gear. no glide STILL.
it is motivating and embarrassing for a button pusher to RAPE everyone. this has to end.
9.2 at 152 mph. lets commit to ending the rain of terror PLEASE!

I don't want to give up my gasoline powered vehicles but have known for a long time that electric was eventually going to rule the roads/track. Right now everything is limited by onboard electricity production or storage (amount and weight) once that hurdle is out of the way you could have cars basically only limited by available traction to accelerate. I do think it will be short lived though, With lower weight and higher output potential of batteries I can actually see use turning to drone technology and no longer drive anywhere you'll fly there. Think of the time saved, You could live an hour away from work by car but it would only take 5-10 by air.
It won't be in my lifetime but advances in the last 25yrs has me convinced it's going to happen sooner than later.

I was looking at a lightning but the range figures were not inspiring. Yeah, it could tow 13k pounds and had a 300 mile range. But they would not give me a range while towing.
Not knocking it. Wife is buying a Tesla next year for sure. But I am not 100 percent on trucks yet.

This summer I was at a truck stop in North Dakota when a Tesla rolls in. He roams around the parking lot very slowly looking for a charger. Oops... You're in rural North Dakota buddy. He heads back towards the exit and stops.... Nope, not going to make it. Well ****, now what? LOL! But I'm sure he still brags that he never pays for any gas.

We should travel together sometime from Illinois to West Coast. Of course, I'll have to leave you behind in Iowa when you run out of charge but it'll be fun for 2 hours.

Electric is the perfect opportunity for bench racers to now be cool. Just make a payment and your Austin Coil. I will be slower and wrench out my **** thank you. Fast is one small part of hot rodding. If anything it exposes the small pee pee crew.

Or you could just best both worlds and have gas and electric vehicles. These things are getting incredible reviews. Motor Trend called it the best pickup truck they have ever driven. It is amusing for me to watch a group of car enthusiasts be reduced to bragging about their range though. We've come full circle.

I got a Tesla Model 3 Performance a little while back, and it's weird in a lot of ways, but it's a fun car to drive. One guy took his drag racing and got a few 11.4X runs (trapping 117ish if I remember right), so it's not in the same league as the Model S Plaid, but it's half the price and and it doesn't need any preparation to run those times. Just stomp and go.
I haven't talen my C5 to a drag strip, but it is about the same power with only 3/4 the weight, so I'm sure it would be quicker. But I can use full throttle in the Tesla more often than in the C5, just because it's so predictable, and that counts for something. AWD plus good traction control and stability control makes it so predictable it's a little spooky.
So far, the most driving I've done in a single day left me with just under 50% battery. That took two hours, so I suspect it would go four on a single charge. It completely recharges in my garage overnight, so I have never had to look for a charging station. But for a road trip, I'm pretty sure I'd take a gas car, just so I wouldn't even have to think about range and charging stations.
There's a couple people in the Tesla forum who have said that they only get a few laps on a road course before going into a reduced power mode, and they still need charging every couple sessions. It's probably going to be a long time before I even think about replacing my C5.
