Default Viper GTS gets tamed, hard.

I'm rolling with some cars and I see a Yellow GTS sounding mean. He had Corsa exhaust at the bare minimum. My boy thinks it was cammin, but I'm not sure. He's 3 cars ahead of me at the light so I manuvered my way next to him and give him a nice fat bark. He looks over and laughs and pulls forward. My girl was like "Get em!" I swung next to him and heard him drop and hold a gear. We crack it and my Yank hit. Neck and neck, he shifts and I pull a car, he hit top of 3rd and pulled a car on me. I was like HOLY ****!

We come up to the light and he says how much are you spraying? Here we go. I say cam only and he shakes his head like I'm lying. I say let's hit this light. He says, I'm on a street tire. I was like so? I stall it up and stole nearly 5 cars before he stopped spinning and I shut it down after second.

He drove past me and pushed his thumb signaling that I was on the button. Whatever. He was driving a high 12 second car at best. 500+HP. What a joke. He pulls over and we talked for a bit. He still didn't believe me because he said his buddy's 02 WS6 is on a slick and 225 shot and only runs 11.7s. I said, what size stall and he says 4400. There ya go bro. Too much stall. I said if he gets a nice PYE3600 he should see low 11s with traction. The guy didn't care. We rolled. I don't even make 380HP and would've rolled him 1/4 mile. How much do those cost? Too much if you ask me. It was a good night.

Hell, my converter on spray would slip like an old man at an ice arena. I want to get into the 10s NA, then throw a shot on it. Thanks guys.

Great kill Bro. Its always nice to spank a 70K dollar viper. Although I have never done so, I assume it would be great. And all he was trying to do was validate the fact that your $20K'ish fbody could hang/kill his mopar beast.

Sounds like the rollon was a damn good run! Does not sound like he was making anywhere near 500Rwhp though. A stock GTS is good for around 400rwhp. . . not sure why his intake/exhaust mods did not help much. But that is the fun part of street racing!

As to the race from the dig, not surprised that a Viper sometimes gets beat out of the hole (bad) by an F-Body or Mustang. Vipers have poor weight transfer, enormous contact patch + spinning mass, and oodles of torque on top of tall gearing. Traction is decent, but knife edge, especially difficult to gauge on some streets. If a Viper smokes em out of the hole, even with a quick backoff, it takes a lot of patience to wait out the drivetrain mass to slow down enough for traction.

Yes, they do cost more. Yes, if you like to drag, they cost too much. Very observant. Most people would never want or buy one. Good thing Dodge does not make many of them a year. Just as long as they keep making them . . . I will most likely want another later on.

Good match/death/kills!

I like the Vipers. They are rare, exotic looking and for the most part, fast as hell. We're doing the first Paxton Novi 2000 kit (for the NeonNeonNeon-10) we can get our hands on here at the shop. That, a blower pulley swap and an AEM stand alone should get our customer to his desired 700 rwhp. Anything you can do a blower and computer swap on and make 700 rwhp is a pretty badass vehicle if you ask me. We also have a '97 GTS my boss owns we're doing a built motor for (talk about expensive: $2500 for rods, $1300 pistons and just try finding a forged crank for a Viper.....wait.....oooops, they dont exist) and again a Paxton kit. We're shooting for 800+ rwhp with this one. A nice dyno queen for our get-togethers here at the shop to impress customers. Sounds like fun to me.

Stupid? On my part? I'm just saying that for the money, my Z ripped his expensive car. I think it's funny to rip those cars when they're so much more expensive than ours. It's a lot of fun.

And after the race is over, you are still in a chevy camaro, while he is driving home in a viper.

Nice kills! Guy needs to learn a bit more about cars before he tries running with the big dogs.
