Default 3000 gt driven by a girl gets it

Well I took a friend out (dmnspd on here) to see how my new 3.73s felt to him. We took it out for a rip and see some ricers going the other direction. I quickly hang a u-ie and we persue. They turn into a small shopping center so we figure oh well no race, we will just pull in and cruise around to try to get one to bite. Well we see this nice black 3000 gt turn around and start to head out. Well I rip off after it. Come to a red light - two turn lanes to go left- Look over and its a chick. Shes int he left lane and Im in the right turn lane. Lights are flashing red/yellow. Traffic clears and we both start to go, as soon as she goes she just lays into it. I have to wait cause im turning left and If I lay into it ....you know there goes the re-end out....so as soon as I get half straight I lay into it, spin through 1st, catch traction through second- started at here rear bumper cause she launched it around the corner- now Im pulling- I miss 3rd then I finally find 3rd start to pull by her, I can see her hit another gear-I hit 4th and just start walking away-throw on the 4 ways and call it a kill....nothing special just a little fun. As far as I know it was just a sl 5 spd....She had a girl passanger that was young....say 12-14 years old and she was only in her teens, I had steve in the car thats around 200lbs or so and Im like 190lbs

The SL model wasn't all that fast. The VR-4 was faster but a stock LS1 should be able to beat it. Although the VR-4 would have better traction than our cars. We should generally be able to catch them and pass them. That is based on specs I've read on the net. A mid to low 13s F-body beats a high to low 13s VR-4.

Good kill though.

I'll add that girl must have been a moron for doing that with a really young kid with her. We're just as stupid for going after her though.

That aside...

I haven't been for a ride in a 5.0 in a long time. It was fun. I'm also closer to 250. haha

I think it feels quicker with just the 373's than it did with the 273's and the 75 shot.

Some specs for you Andy...

97-99 3000GT SL (pretty sure that's what year it was)
DOHC 3.0 V6
222hp
205ftlbs
0-60 in 8.5 seconds
3800lbs!!!!!!!!!

*EDIT* So 3KGT fans don't get all bunched up, I simply just found the quickest source for the info. I wasn't going to search endlessly on 3SI.org, so I simply went to edmunds.com.

So after you beat her, did she "get it"? Not the passenger of course.

I don't think that is what TA TED was implying.

Used to own a 92 Stealth ES same car basicly as the SL your mentionning and they are capable of 6.7 sec 0-60mph. They are nothing compared to an LS1 tho

6.7??????? My mom used to have a mint '94 SL M5, and that thing definitely wasn't that quick. Those cars could only do the 1/4 mile in the low 16's, high 15's if every condition was perfect. 0-60 was more like low 8's, and the average I've seen on test reviews is 8.5.

My friend has a vr-4 with a few upgrades but i always beat him by a car length, even off the line. Those things weigh soo much, heavier then our cars

^ Exactly. They're friggin' boats. Nearly 3900 lbs plus an AWD setup does not equate to the fastest car. Stock, the '94-'99's had 320 for h.p. and tq, but unless you have PERFECT launches (meaning holding the revs high and dumping the clutch), you weren't gonna see the best times. I've seen shitty drivers in '94+ VR4's running high 15's at our track. The best I've seen stock is 14.0, with less than impressive trap speeds (and that includes magazines). Unless they've had some heavy tuning, they aren't really anything to brag about. My mom's SL M5 was fun to drive, but wasn't quick, and had crazy understeer. You could really feel the weight of the car being pulled around with how heavy they are, and that was with the hundreds-of-lbs LESS 2wd (FWD, how gay is that for that kind of a car) SL.

you sound like a ricer on automotive forums.

no non turbo was EVER 3800 lbs.
DOHC non turbos(222hp) range from 3100-3500lbs(depending on how plush you got it)...

3900 lbs? yeah the TT Convert..go hang with the ricers some more, they know more about the car than you...

This car wasnt that much so dont say theres tons of money invested either, thats like 25k invested. Ive seen flat 11 second 1/4 for 12k...
