Default Viper vs. LT1

To start, my g/f's dad has a 95 RT-10 Viper with cat-back. I'm in the process of a h/c and rasied compression in my 94 M6, it should put down 375 rwhp because the cam isn't to big. I was wondering, would it be possible for a 375 rwhp f-body to beat his viper? He's on street tires and i'll be on nitto, so i know i'll have a better change from a dig. Could i hold him off in the 1/4 and what do yall think would happen from a roll saying driver's are about equal in skill? Thanks

from a roll you dont have a chance, at the drags well you always have a chance. only one way to find out.

My friends 96 GTS only put down 381rwhp and like 475rwtq<not positive on the torque>. He consistently trapped around 12.2's @ 117-118mph on stock tires. Not sure if there was a big difference between the RT's and the GTS' or not.

Like mentioned before, you'll have a chance from a dig but don't even bother trying from a roll unless you step up on the cam choice.

You should beat him no problemfrom a full stop. What is up with your 60 foot should be much better

I think youll take him. 95 was not a good year for the viper. Now an 02 or 03, thats a different story. I had one give me fits but it probably wasnt stock.

It's 96+ that you have to worry about. The older RT 10's were 110-112 mph cars. You should have him if your setup is dialed in and tuned correctly.

Yeah but there less weight with more power and they have bigger tires. I think the only what your Camaro will win is if the viper drops a pistion or hits a deer...... keep you fingers crossed

Here are the specs on a 95 RT-10...

Maximum Speed 165 mph (264 km/h)
Acceleration 0-60 4.6 sec.
1/4 Mile Time 12.9 sec @ 113.8 mph

Not bad, but you would expect more. Not much better than a stock LS1 really. So, if you have some mods I think you have it.

Oh yeah...and what happened to the days when Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth made performance cars the working man could afford??? We have the Viper, Magnum, and SRT-4. The first isn't readily affordable to most people, the second would have been better as a coupe instead of a wagon, and the SRT-4 is not even a muscle car. Ok, enough ranting...

Well once you get on you will see that the LT1 only has a 6000RPM redline and a rev limit of 6200RPM, so what the differance in 600 RPM.

And another thing Mister, just remember that with out Mother Mopar we would never have the kind of cars we have today. Hell the Quickest STOCK car ever made was the 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart

That is a HELLUVA time and trap speed for even an LS1 at Commerce. Congrats I have raced quite a few LS1s there. An 02 SS with catback, tuning, CAI, DRs and UD pulleys was the fastest. He ran a best of 13.5 @ 105 this past September (kinda warm night) to my 13.1 @ 106. You have a pretty stout beast there for that track.

The Hemi Dart wasnt really the fastest 100% stock because it cam with 4 inch steel rims and bias ply tire's but the ZL1 was a COPO and couldnt be bought by just anyone, you could buy the Dart at any Dodge dealer for like 7,000 Bucks. With a set of slicks they would run 10's in 1968. They hade fiberglass every thing, sliding door window, fork lift seats for seats, light weight windsheild, a 727, dana rear and a littel plaque in the door jam that said "This automobile is not for use on public highways and does not meet the US transportation departments safty standards"
Thats sick

FYI did you know the fastest mass produced car is the ZR1 Corvette..... that was in 1996 so maybe there's another

I was going to say I figured a ZO6 would eat a ZR1's lunch but I didn't know for sure.... I guess things change from 1995
