the other day i went over to my brothers house because he just got a 2002 bmw m3. He keeps on nagging at me to race him for titles all he has is a set of good tires a gruppe m intake and a dinnan muffler. i have 98ws6 with a set of drag radials a lid cut out and a power programmer and i'm a six speed? to race or not to race?

Not sure about the years on them but the later model with the I6 is 333hp 264lbs ft torque. They've supposedly gone as fast as high 13s with a decent driver. Do not underestimate the M3 unless it's the 4 banger even then be wary if it's not stock. You should smoke him if you run you're best time ever against his best time ever. If this is a street race though you can't go by that anything could happen. Believe me ANYTHING could happen. Just race him for cash it's alot better then throwing titles between brothers.

Hey guys.
Not sure about the stats on the WS6 or your car in particular...however, the E46(2001+) M3 is good for low 13's all day stock, and has hit 12.7 stock by a pro drag racer.
I'd be weary about doing that race. If your brother is willing to put up a $60,000 car against a 98 WS6, he might have more than just intake/exhaust.

Don't get me wrong, WS6's are very fast cars and one of my all time favorites but don't take the E46 M3's too lightly. My cousin has one and I must admit it's quite fast. Not only is it fast but a damn nice car as well. Very luxurious and classy. You don't even need to go fast in that car. You can take your sweet time and it'll still turn heads.
Although M3's are GT cars and not drag cars, Stock M3's hit low 13's all day at the 1/4 mile track and they're even better around a road course. I've heard of a few people breaking 12's with their stock M3 and hitting mid 12's with bolt-ons isn't a problem.
Here's a video of a M3 with exhaust hitting mid 12's:

And anything can happen on the streets. Here's one against a Z06 and you'll see the outcome at the end who wins.

Better safe than sorry. Race him for lunch or something. All in good fun.

Nope. They really do run the quarter mile in low 13's stock. 0-60 in 4.8 seconds or so.
Just because you saw an M3 do low/mid 14's at a certain track doesn't mean the car is only capable of doing those times. I even saw Corvettes running 14's before at the local track, but that didn't lead me to believe they were only capable of running 14's and not 12's or 13's.

Man, racing your brother for slips sounds like a bad idea any way you slice it.
Unless you dont ever want to speak to him again, have hated him for years, and are willing to dump a nitrous shot(at least 150) on him to insure victory. Dont worry about the after effects. You'll be putting in a new engine anyway.

Nice addition to the thread as well Sean "THX BMW" is classy
The m3's can run solid. Low 13's down here in houston is what i see. To be safe, make a 600 dollar investment in a nice Nitrous Express Wet kit. pill it for a 100 or even a 150 shot, and blow his **** right out of the water.
good luck, and DONT **** UP

racing for slips is retarded anyways and from family.....
M3 are quick,,,mid low 13'z all day. Ive raced one on the highway and he jumped a 3/4 a car(dam auto) we were at 70-80ish and the kick down sucks!!!! anyways, he pulled but around 110 i was at with door and a car jumped in the middle forman exit so i let off. He looked stock but im not sure. my car in sig......
dont unestimate the m3 and dont race form the slip...
but the "THX BMW" plate is an awesomeidea though!!!!!

I agree with most of these guys, that car is capable of low 13 second stock. Some of you young guys are underestimating this car. I wouldn't bet on slips. You guys say to put on a NOS kit, he may have one also under the hood and hide it from you.
