'99 Trans Am vs. '00 GT this guy came up to me earlier today and asked if i wanted to race him for some money. he seemed very confident that his '00 mustang gt with "only an off-road pipe and intake filter" could wax me. he was even gonna give me 2 car links from a 15 mph roll on. im an a4 and he's a 5 speed....im a little reluctant to race him for cash. what do yall think?

Re: '99 Trans Am vs. '00 GT I agree with all of the above. He is either sandbagging or not very samrt. I would quiz him a little more about his car knowledge. Just ask him questions to see if he is totally up on what's going on in the auto world. He just may not know much about F-bodies and need a little education.......but I think he is sandbagging.

Re: '99 Trans Am vs. '00 GT I would go from a standing start. If you win by a couple cars hes not lying. If its real close he has a few more mods. If he beats you by 5+ cars he is not N/A. With his mods he is in the high to mid 13's. Newer gts can run high 13's stock.

Re: '99 Trans Am vs. '00 GT even opening up the hood may not reveal all you need to know, all that guy would have to do is have a cam installed and he could surprise you, I agree with everyone else though, if your gonna run him for the first time, run him from a dead stop in an automatic, all it would take is for him to get over anxious and spin his tires, and you'll win the race and any money you put on it! Good luck though (I LOVE killing mustangs)
